Been on blue sky for a couple of days now. If you want to find a bunch of unthinking and easily offended authoritarians to block, just follow Popehat.
Relatedly, if the US had strong hate speech laws, how often do you think trans people, people of color, and anyone else not playing at @scalzi Lowest Difficulty Setting would be getting arrested for “acab” related offenses?
#LinkedIn, who I heavily depend on to run my marketing agency, suspended me without a reason (“suspected unauthorized login” is what they've said) on Thursday last week
I've been called on for jury duty, first time ever! I'll have to make sure they're OK with bathroom breaks every 30 minutes. Breaks for me to use my inhalers and take my meds. Then there's dietary requirements. Regular coughing fits. Sarcastic remarks when I get bored. And I might sit there saying guillotine over and over. Then the verdict. Did the police develop the evidence? I've seen their work. NOT GUILTY. I'll make a great juror don't ya think?
I regret to report that an opinion essay titled "Why I ordered 200 incandescent lightbulbs" is an actual piece on the Washington Post's site. In this ill-informed and pointless piece--among other problems, it shows no awareness that you can buy LED bulbs in any color you want, or even buy ones that change color on demand--Kathleen Parker seems determined to make her 2010 Pulitzer Prize look like a gigantic mistake.
Of course I'm not sharing the link, because I value your time.
