@darylbaxter But iDOS is being put through the ringer for reasons that make no sense whatsoever. and MAME4iOS is being repeatedly rejected for spam. None of that really looks good.

I’d also love to be a fly on the wall when someone submits mini vMac. I’d say there’s zero chance of that going through.

Apple pulls the controversial "Crush" ad and apologizes.

"The ad, posted on social media Tuesday by Apple CEO Tim Cook, was met with backlash from internet users who felt that the ad celebrated technology’s destruction of human creativity and art."

A tablet will never replicate the experience of playing a physical piano or ukulele for me. I still read physical books over using a kindle. When I draw and paint it’s with a real pencil and paint brush.

If that makes me a Luddite, then I’m proud to be one.

For a marketing company that doubles as a tech company, Apple's latest iPad Pro is incredibly tone-deaf. https://www.computerworld.com/article/2099740/apples-worst-ad-ever.html by @sjvn

Crushing products of any kind, but particularly those associated with creativity, in the days of over-consumption and AI coming for the arts after ripping off those artists, is just tone deaf. should pull their ad and apologise.

Tone-deaf.

@davemark New today: Apple has apologized for the ad rubbing creatives the wrong way. Like the eraser-less Apple Pencil Pro that @gruber got instead of one with a virtual eraser on the opposite rounded end. I love that idea, seems like such a natural fit (and would have fit perfectly with the pencil-flicking animation for the event).

Apple broke the law with anti-union tactics in NYC

https://www.theregister.com/2024/05/08/apples_antiunion_tactics_in_nyc/

Talking of Chameleons, I am always impressed by the way Apple have managed to maintain much of their ‘outside, liberal’ image - even when they dominate mobile markets. Jobs was a shite, indifferent to others in his company, family and community. The organisation maintains that process - with a ‘friendly face’.

I do use their hardware/software but am under no illusions about the company.

My Mastodon bubble absolutely hates 's ad for the Pro. And I absolutely agree – it's in very bad taste.

It is also … a weird miss?

I guess the idea and the silliness might make sense for a affordable product aimed at teenagers and students: «Hey, here is a product that simulates all that stuff at a reasonable price, so you can experiment and figure out what speaks to you.» 🧵1/2

xeophin,
@xeophin@swiss.social avatar

But the iPad Pro is not a reasonably priced product. It is a product (ostensibly?) aimed at professionals. It aims to be used by people that know and cherish all those tools that are being crushed.

They will not replace those with an iPad. At most, they will use the iPad to augment them.

This ad just does not make sense in that regard. 🧵2/2

Apple promised 1984 wouldn’t be like 1984. They waited until 2024.

Screw Apple and their gaslighting. They didn’t give us freedom. They gave us a gilded cage.

It’s time to think DIFFERENTLY again.
