Okay, so another set of stats now that April is over.

As I've said before, I am posting concurrently to Pixefed and Instagram to see what the differences are.

Let's break it down by month first. Here are average likes by month for the year to date:
January - Insta 20 / Pixelfed 8
February - Insta 21 / Pixelfed 8
March - Insta 27 / Pixelfed 11
April - Insta 26 / Pixelfed 9

Year to date, we're averaging 23.7 likes per post on Insta and 9.1 likes per post on Pixelfed.

But, this is a thread, so let's go deeper.

First, let's look at most likes of the month. For April, my most liked post on Instagram was my post for Wotakoi, Volume 4 with 43 likes. For comparison, the same post on Pixelfed got 9 likes. https://pixelfed.social/i/web/post/680406871658815035

Year to date - cat pics are averaging 20 likes per post on Insta and 25 likes per post on Pixelfed. Manga does well on Instagram with 28 likes per post on average; on Pixelfed? 5 likes on average.

Flowers or "Bloomscrolling" does well on Pixelfed with 25 likes per post; on Insta it's 23 likes per post.

Basically, trends in what I post show an interesting top list.

Instagram: 1. Manga, 2. Selfies, 3. Flowers / Bloomscrolling
Pixelfed: 1. Cats and Flowers / Bloomscrolling (Tie), 3. Selfies

So what does this tell me?

In a world of algorithms, my manga posts are being caught into their algorithm pattern and being seen by more people. In a world without algorithms (i.e. Fedi), people like to see pictures of flowers and cats.

I mean, I get it.

Oh - and year to date, I'm averaging 0.05 likes per follower on Insta and 0.08 likes per follower on Pixelfed.

And current follower count:
Instagram - 454 (+68 since 2023)
Pixelfed - 117 (+40 since 2023)

@aronow I mean, I like it! It's like a federated Instagram. For me, I prefer viewing image heavy accounts using the Pixelfed interface than the Mastodon interface. So, sometimes I double follow folks here and there.

It keeps getting better, too, as they improve some of the options. But, I'm also pretty basic on Insta / Pixelfed and don't use a lot of filter options, etc.

Good morning and Happy Wednesday / May / International Workers' Day.

The United States is one of the only countries in the world to not acknowledge International Workers' Day / Labor Day on May Day / May 1st. The active denial of comradery by the US of American laborers with our international allies is definitely purposeful. Even as the date was selected based on a historic strike in the US.

We should acknowledge the struggle of the labor movement and workers across the globe.

Good morning and happy Tuesday!

I have half day at work, followed by a Dr appointment. This evening then my 12 year old is being inducted into the Junior National Honor Society, which is awesome! After that (or during it, kind of), my youngest two have softball practice. And I've turned into an assistant coach (long-ish story). So, I'll be heading over to that afterwards.

So yea...it's going to be a busy one!

Work/Career Update!

As many of you know, I have worked for @novalauncher for 8 1/2 years. When I was hired, I was done so as a contractor and remained a contractor the entire time. Then two years ago, Branch Metrics acquired Nova and while I made the transition over, I was still a contractor due to Branch not having things setup to hire full time employees in the state of North Carolina. So for the entirety of my Nova Launcher career, I've been a contractor. (cont...)

Rising tracks since last month, as they remain in my Top 15 all April include Chung Ha's Eenie Meenie, YooA's Rooftop, and Bowling for Soup's Hello Anxiety.

Also, NMIXX's Run for Roses went from being 4th all year long to getting into 2nd place.

Honestly, deservedly. I still love that song. My favorite NMIXX song of all time.

Also, Solar / DJ Harry's "Paradise" - which was in my top, personal list since December 2022 has dropped off that list and out of my top 5 listened to spot for the first time in over a year.
