@recalalba Alternativas ya uso y esas que mencionas son buenas, claro. K9 ahora mismo corre a cargo de Mozilla y es esencialmente la versión móvil de Thunderbird.

Trying out on the desktop, since I'm gradually shifting back to these days. So far it's...alright?

I've always loved the idea of a Fediverse client that integrates nicely with the desktop, while offering full access to whatever features that platform gives you. But, I'm hard pressed to find a client that does everything I want. 😅

deadsuperhero,
@deadsuperhero@social.wedistribute.org avatar

A minor annoyance is that mobile clients like @moshidon are really, really good nowadays. Desktop clients, though? Some are great, but a lot of them feel like they’re five years behind, in terms of user experience.

secana,
@secana@mastodon.social avatar

Wow, the upgrade from 5 to 6 on was smooth. Changed one line in the config and it works perfectly fine. Great experience.

sandro,
@sandro@c3d2.social avatar

@secana It works very well unless you have custom theming which all falls apart because of the major qt upgrade.

carlschwan,
@carlschwan@floss.social avatar

A new feature I absolutely love in @neochat is that the message delegates now offer a full previews of the file you send. Here is for example a markdown file with Markdown syntax highlighting! The same works with train tickets or any other types of tickets that KDE Itinerary can consume.

begasus,
@begasus@mastodon.social avatar

Done :) Pushed my recipes to build the frameworks (6.2.0) and a few frameworks (6.0.4) to: https://codeberg.org/Begasus/haikuports/src/branch/kf6

For those wanting to try them out it's a matter of setting up a repository and import those recipes. Mind you, the full frameworks for KDE on are 137 packages.

In the meantime, and updated locally to latest beta 24.04.90 :)

Omg, someone finally found a way to make discord work for sharing screen under that works - https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/1cf57xa/comment/l1mvp1a/

Tldr: pass the env variable XDG_SESSION_TYPE=x11 to discord command

This way it's finally possible to open the share screen without it going on a loop forever with asking for you to select a thing to share with the xwaylandvideobridge!

Just tried, it works.

Madic,
@Madic@chaos.social avatar

@vascorsd
Or just use discord in a browser

vascorsd,

@Madic krysp thing and microphone auto detextion of its sound doesn't work with that. Vesktop has same problem.

KAdressBook is part of KMail and gets installed together with it. I don't use KMail, but I installed it just now and KAdressBook works just fine. Can you paste the exact error message about the akonadi agent? Also, if you start KMail from Konsole, there might be more output regarding KAdressBook.

One of the things that I truly miss in @kde is a modern and actively-maintained diff tool. Gnome/GTK has Meld which despite of ugly GTK style, is a very decent diff tool which also allows comparing "blank files" which user can copy-paste snippets from elsewhere. has kdiff3 and kompare, both of which feel and look dated and old-school.

https://invent.kde.org/sdk/kdiff3

rriemann,
@rriemann@chaos.social avatar

@Mehrad @kde Kate has a git diff integration. It only works for git projects.

Mehrad,
@Mehrad@fosstodon.org avatar

@rriemann
Interesting, I've never used the diff in Kate. I should give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

I wonder if it supports non-saved files to be diffed. The only places that I have managed to do that is with Meld and Emacs ediff.

I just received an email from the bug tracker about a KHTML bug I subscribed to 20 years ago. It was not fixed, but that's ok. 🙂🤷 KHTML was eventually forked into WebKit and in turn Blink, powering Safari and Chromium. Two projects that receive a constant flux of contributions by @igalia and are one of the focus of our business. Long live KHTML! 🥂
