Where Do Skyrim's Rivers Come From? (www.youtube.com)

annathepiper, Well y'all, after a couple of false starts, I have successfully blown away the prior Ubuntu/Windows 10 dual boot setup on my ancient PC laptop, and replaced it with Bazzite. Bazzite is apparently a gaming-friendly flavor of Linux, and looks a lot like the Linux flavor on my Steam Deck.
It took some patience and tweaking, but now the system is successfully booting into the OS. Steam and Lutris are confirmed present. And I'm installing Skyrim as we speak.
The big hilarious question to answer here will be, will I actually be able to run Skyrim? And if so, will I get the same hilariously bad FPS I got without mods? We're talking 8-15fps right around Whiterun, LOL.
This should be amusing. :D

Konghammer, Skyrim is bonkers shit. Just met a bear in a cabin by the river and I got its health down to where it had run off so I had a little snooze in the bed. Imagine my Goldilocks ass surprise when I wake up and the bear is back in the cabin awake and pretty pissed off. #Skyrim
Konghammer, I'm now a wolf cat thief archer homeowner. #Skyrim
trixter, @Konghammer Such a perfect fantasy life
Konghammer, I have restarted #Skyrim again for the umpteenth time as a break from #Fallout and #BG3 but still scratching that fantasy, elves and dragons and shit, itch. I'm playing as a Khajiit stealth archer (imaginative I know) but I'm just about to start the companions quest line, except that will make me a Werewolf Cat.
trixter, @Konghammer WOLFCAT
Natanox,
Natanox, I could've probably had the whole series of "The Real Barenziah" about 100 times now, but this one seems to be unobtainium. Where the heck do I find the other parts of this masterpiece? 🥴 #Skyrim #GamingOnLinux #gaming
Natanox, Oh shit Oh shit Oh shit #Skyrim #GamingOnLinux #gaming
annathepiper, In which Kendeshel defends a mad mage in the sewers beneath Solitude; also fights off two different dragons in the city; marries Rulnik Wind-Strider in Riften, and settles her family at Proudspire Manor; helps the East Empire Company reclaim Japhet's Folly; and acquires the Arms of Chaos to display with the relics in her museum.

juergen_hubert, Once again, I've installed #Skyrim on a new desktop PC with a new graphics card (GeForce 4060 Ti).
Thus, I am wondering: What kinds of mods are Kids These Days using for this game?
Beyond the obvious, I mean (i.e. SKSE and the Unofficial Patch). Here's some guidelines for what I am looking for:
Since I how have a high-end graphics card, anything that will make the game look more visually impressive is interesting.
Overhauls which provide interesting gameplay changes (to keep gameplay exciting)
New quests, enemies and so forth are interesting, but they should not be too divergent from #ElderScrolls lore (i.e. no xenomorphs and so forth).
Any suggestions?
kbal, You'll probably want to choose either ENB or Community Shaders for shaders. It's pretty much independent of everything else.
Important things some of which I'm not sure whether they count as "too obvious" or not: SkyUI, SmoothCam, True Directional Movement, Precision, Violens, Faster HDT-SMP, Nemesis, Bodyslide, MCO, dyndolod
Quests and gameplay things that I can recommend as being worth a try: Plilgrim, Clockwork, Extended Cut, Chanterelle, Forgotten City, Sirenroot, Hunterborn, Animallica, Convenient Horses, Vokrii, Surival Mode Improved.
A list from people who know what they're doing: https://web.archive.org/web/20220917233830/https://modwat.ch/u/Eribees/modlist
kbal, There are so many skyrim mods to chose from... I didn't even get around to mentioning the texture replacers, lighting mods, sounds, character models, AI improvements, bug fixes, game balance fixes, etc.
Anyway, I just like to install a few at a time each with each new game. I'm only up to about 300 mods, so just getting started really.
annathepiper, In which the Dragonborns raid the Thalmor embassy, with very messy results, but get the information they rampaged in there for; and in which they rescue Esbern from the Ratway in Riften, and escort him back to Riverwood to rendezvous with Delphine.
Long overdue Skyrim Together post from early December.

dimillian, In the end I’m back to to #Skyrim
codechemist, @dimillian I have bought that game 4 different times on different platforms, across many years. I recently picked it up on the steam winter sale for my steamdeck. That game rips.
Dennis5891, I am also making a genuine effort to not loot everything in every dungeon, in this play though. Not as easy as you think, let me tell you.
Dennis5891, @kinsale42 @natejung @WanderingInDigitalWorlds
I tried. I really tried. I AM managing not to loot every piece of armor and sword, but damn. The food, and the books, I just can't stop myself. I am pretty sure I am carrying around a grocery store and a library.
WanderingInDigitalWorlds, @Dennis5891 @kinsale42 @natejung My library is in one of my many homes in Skyrim. I'm carrying a bunch of cooked meals because the hubby has made some fantastic food for me! Aside from my weapons, I'm a walking reagent, potion, and restaurant establishment.
annathepiper, In which Finds-The-Way learns how to find an Elder Scroll from a mad mage; slays a wave of frenzied mudcrabs in Dawnstar; is kidnapped by the Dark Brotherhood, and then invited to join them; recovers a lost clan sword from Silverdrift Lair; slays a treacherous Argonian in Ironbind Barrow; and takes out the Summerset Shadows to win access for the Thieves Guild in Windhelm.
This is more of my German playthrough of Skyrim, from mid-December. (I'm behind on my posts again!)
euphoriagremlin, It doesn't matter how many years pass or how many times I've played it already, #Skyrim keeps calling me home.
euphoriagremlin, @jb it came out over 12 years ago and 2 console generations, it's like as old as the NES was when I had a PS1
euphoriagremlin, @shoogle absolutely, you've entirely captured how I feel about it 😊
annathepiper, In which Finds-The-Way quests into the ruins of Rielle--and then into the Deadlands, when she finds an Oblivion Gate.
This is more of my German playthrough, and since it's a single session, focuses on language notes for running the end of The Cause.

ryansouthwick,
pseudonymsupreme, I found #Cuphead too difficult to be enjoyable. So I traded it in for a pre owned copy of #Skyrim for #NintendoSwitch. This will be the third console for which I’ve purchased this game. Good gods, I love this era of #Bethesda games. #gaming #videogames #switch #games
tosbourn, @pseudonymsupreme I want to love Cuphead. The art style is just lovely, but ditto on it being prohibitively hard.
MartinRgt, I've started a new #Skyrim run to play with my girlfriend. She's not used to the RPG conventions, especially in their videogame format. I'll keep track of her reactions in a thread down here.
MartinRgt, Not gonna lied, my gf quickly lost interest in Skyrim. She didn't have 150+ hours to spend watching endless dungeon crawling in a world where you seem to be constantly cold and your feet are constantly wet.
Regardless, today, in 2024, I finished it. Sort of. I refused to complete some quests for moral reasons. I refrained from looting a single funerary urn (I did take a peak though).
All along, whenever my gf happened to watch me play, she only shook her head and sighted "that poor Lydia..."
leonardbertos, @MartinRgt all of this makes sense
annathepiper, A walkthrough post for what I did to install an unofficial patch to FISSES, one of the mods I'm using in my modded playthroughs, which allows certain mods to have access to the file system so that you can save out settings for things like RaceMenu, A Matter of Time, and other mods you want to save custom configs for.
Hopefully useful to any other #Skyrim players who are using FISSES in their load orders!
I can confirm that this unofficial patch did resolve the last error I was seeing my modded playthroughs throwing on startup, following the recent update to the game. So I hope this helps somebody else!

gamingonlinux, Skyrim Special Edition adds Steam Deck support…and paid modding
Video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gK-BhKF-Qng&feature=youtu.be
PGtheVRguy, @gamingonlinux hey, I'm unable to watch the video rn. What is implied in "paid modding"?
gamingonlinux, @PGtheVRguy you can pay for mods from any modder that goes through verification
This update for Skyrim Special Edition introduces Bethesda Game Studios Creations, an enhanced platform for building and sharing community-made content, as well as Steam Deck and ultrawide monitor support for PC players.

thatmoooocow, @gamingonlinux
I have gog version so I will probably not get it :((
annathepiper, Holy shit, there's a #Skyrim update! Got up this morning to see the news that they've apparently dropped a substantial patch. Release notes at the link.
Anybody besides me playing modded playthroughs, be advised this may break your ability to play those modded playthroughs until your mods catch up, if you haven't already taken steps to lock your Skyrim to a specific version!
annathepiper, In which Finds-The-Way's player does not do a real session, but does spend some time trying to solve the problem of recovering her missing Stray Dog. Pleased to report this was successful! Deets on how in the post.

annathepiper, In which Kendeshel saves the island of Wyrmstooth from the threat of a particularly ambitious dragon. (This session is focused entirely on the main plot of the Wyrmstooth mod, so I won't say more because spoilers. Read with caution if you're not already familiar with this mod.)
And this post is ALSO the last of my backlog of posts I wanted to do! So now I'm entirely caught up, and active play will now resume!
