I spoke to a woman buying flower seedlings at the local garden centre. She told me that all the little kids in her street call her ‘the flower lady’, because every other garden in her neighbourhood is a monoculture of lawns and modern flowerless landscaping. And since her property is a blooming oasis of colour for the local children passing by, it makes them smile. When she noticed that I too had a few flower seedlings in my basket, she nodded to me knowingly and said, “We hold the peace.” #FlowerPower
Got my hair done today. It’s the first time I’ve been to the girlie hairdresser since before the Covid lockdowns. Changed it from green and blue to pink and purple. Not sure 🤔 I like it as much as green nd blue. #hair
I got the wavy hair gene from my mum's side, where almost everyone has wavy/curly hair. My curls are not as prominent, but some days it just decides "I am gonna be crazy today!"
My #hair only got like this after puberty, and before that it was typical ramrod straight and my mum would give me the China doll hairstyle (which I loathed).
Since most Chinese had straight hair this made me even more confused about my already salad cultural roots & feel less #Chinese.
@liztai I also have wavy hair and when we were living in KL, the hairdressers would, as a matter of course, straighten it, beautifully but pointlessly (because I have near-zero skill with hair and it would have reverted by the next day).
@OkayKay@ned I loved my long hair until it started to thin out and get sticks caught in my ponytail while working in the woods. So I bought a trimmer, buzzed it all off, and now think back fondly on the days when I had long, wavy hair.
@ExtraPenguin I haven't had a buzz cut for a long time but I do feel good when I cut my hair off. I'm just too lazy to faff about at the hairdressers and then suddenly you've got two foot of the stuff.
