A great article delving into the power of fractal software to empower organizations in post-capitalist worlds and imagining how Bonfire can benefit from adopting the fractal knowledge model itself.

Oh my holy server. There are so many cool Fediverse projects right know! I can't choose to which I want to commit. Mastodon is clearly getting too big and influential to stay there in the long term. However it's also the most stable and mature project. Oh, and yeah, sadly I can't pursue all of the interesting stuff. It's getting too complicated for me to manage... Let's see what happens in the next few months.

Parmi les différents réseaux qui constituent le Fediverse, l'un d'eux, actuellement en beta, a attiré mon attention.

Bonfire est un service de micro-blogging qui utilise ActivityPub et peut donc interagir avec Mastodon par exemple.

I'm pretty sure Mastodon is the first social network I've been on that didn't immediately ask me to betray all of the people in my address book.

What software do people recommend I host if I want to make my own fediverse activity pub server? I was thinking to host pleroma but I would like to get other peoples recommendations.

Aha, nice. I'd personally say there's value to getting more diversity in the kind of apps that are hosted, and then indeed is an option. But also you can consider forks of , such as with local-only posting or .

If you want to go modern, innovative but still a tad experimental, then may be a very interesting choice. Bit more experimental still you get to .

Here's a nice overview I co-maintain:

I've been involved in starting a mastodon instance (actually, hometown) for my home town (city population around 100k).

many challenges, but one is that it seems people expect/want something like facebook, not twitter.

I think twitter is already something a bit weird. facebook is normal, with groups, events, etc...

as far as I can see, there is no usable open source fediverse facebook replacement option.

I don't know if this is a problem yet, as I can support people more to learn other ways.

How many are there? - what else for a "localized" and specialized Fedi instance?

Any other criteria to add?
