‘What’s happening is not genocide’: #Biden criticizes #ICC for seeking arrest warrants for #Israel officials – as it happened
[Live blog for May 20 - now closed, but still available]
Outlook is pro-Israel (no surprise), but has many quotes of reactions from [#Israeli politicians and experts about the ICC prosecutor's request for arrest warrants.]
‘The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has announced he is seeking arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and three leaders of Hamas’
‘On Sunday, the U.N.'s top humanitarian chief, Martin Griffiths, said Israel's stranglehold on aid reaching Gaza is having “apocalyptic” consequences.’
Every ranking officer participating in these criminal actions should be the target of #ICC for crimes against humanity and #WarCrimes.
The outrageous atrocities of Israeli forces against the civilian population of Gaza is beyond anything we have seen in modern times and sadly these barbaric acts go unpunished while #US, #UK and #Germany keep sending weapons and money to help Israel with their crimes against palestinians in Gaza.
It's not going to happen, but it's a step towards the right direction.
Judging by the way #ICC charged #Hamas, every ranking military serving in Gaza to be charged with #WarCrimes, just like they did with those in #Bosnia and #Rwandan.
But sadly, just #Netanyahu and #Gantz were those they could dare charging.
Notice how quickly the FCDO moved to cover its arse with legal bullshit after the #ICC announcement, literally months after a Tory minister let the cat out of the bag about the UK Government receiving legal advice on #IsraelWarCrimes - legal advice they've effectively denied exists.
Die-In For Life-In Gaza, 18th May 2024, Old Town in Warsaw, Poland
Organized by the collectives Wschód and Kefija, it was a die-in protest commemorating 76th anniversary of Nakba - the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians during the war in Palestine in 1948. Particularly significant in the context of the on-going genocide in Gaza.
I'm not Rafał Milach and I'll cut my usual irrelevant yadda-yadda to say this: if you know enough of history, either of your own country or theirs, it's very hard not to feel sympathy to those folks. Listening to their stories was incredibly heart-wrenching.
Essential, horrific and heart testimony from Dr. Tanya Haj-Hassan, a pediatric intensive care physician who works with Medecins Sans Frontières and co-founded @Gaza Medic Voices
“No matter where you look, no matter where you go, there’s destruction, there’s devastation, there’s loss. There’s a lack of everything. There’s pain. There’s just incredible suffering.”
What has #Biden done that's worse than what #Trump did? I'll start. He went out of his way to bypass #Congress to give arms and money to a country that was clearly committing war crimes.
