Nocturnal critter count though April.

Rabbit unexpectedly puts it foot back into to retain first.
Raccoon, unfortunately, is still increasing.
Fox puts in some missing effort to take third.
Skunk drops off as expected (time for babies and daytime skunk).

Related: Wifey and I were very burnt out. We took ~8 months off and lived off of our savings. We were so burnt we had zero interest in any of the things we love doing.

Critical Role was maybe 1/4 of the way into their second season. We binged it until caught up, and then watched all of the first. It's very fair to say they helped us through a hard time. It came to feel like watching friends play.

They will always have a place in my heart.

There’s at least one rodent on the Solomon Islands that is so big, it can chew through coconuts. Scientists recently captured images of a Vangunu giant rat, an elusive creature that can grow up to 1.5 feet long and, we presume, strike fear into the heart of any rat New York City has ever seen. Live Science has more: https://flip.it/N_RuoK

I love to have the Titmice back, but them, Blue Jays and Mourning Doves continue to be the only birds visiting here. I hear woodpeckers but they will not come down. This is a welcome break for my bird seed budget but I also really miss seeing birds. The critters are filling up as usual.

A Tufted Titmouse with some signs of molting sits at the feeder and looks into the camera with a tilted head.

Where there's bird seed, there will also be , and the are one of my favorite. They just make me laugh. They are tough to get good photos of with my setup because they move so fast, but I got lucky with this one 😆

Does anyone know what these little critters are? It looked like they were feeding off the sea wall algae/moss.

Red Eft (Spotted Orange Newt) in upstate

Starts out with gills living in the water. Then metamorphoses into these cute little guys who run around in the leaf litter eating slugs and insects. Then after several years and possibly miles away from their natal pond, they morph again into adults who may never leave the water again!
