Witnessing another occurrrence of the #ReplyGuy anti-pattern this morning inspired me to write some thoughts about this social behavior that is so common on our #Fediverse that is based on #PublicSquare#Microblogging mechanics.
On the #SocialCoding forum I created a category for #SocialExperienceDesign (or #SX) patterns, and the "Reply Guy" #AntiPattern is the first entry in what might be turned into a pattern library collection.
Some social behaviors are named with #UrbanDictionary slang, that may feel good to brandish about, but don't foster an inclusive culture. (Even while the terminology may have emerged like that with good reason)
In the fight for #gender freedoms, that are so under pressure, it feels contradictory to use terms as #ReplyGuy and #Mansplaining. It is like saying: "I care about gender, but don't mind to discriminate people based on gender stereotypes".
Love when Instagram refreshes right after I post yet again about the seething hypocrisy, #sexism, #misogyny and #transphobia of all the mainstream social media platforms and US legislation banning "female nipples" as "sexually explicit nudity" while "male nipples" aren't and LITERALLY THE FIRST POST TO SHOW is some YouTube dude I follow posting a topless "fitness update" 🙃 Fuck the #patriarchy, and if you consider yourself #progressive, please notice and speak the fuck up about the insanity of #gender based #censorship. I'm tired of feeling so alone.
The new youth poll released by Harvard Kennedy School's Institute of Politics finds a "pronounced" gap between the political views of young men and young women. Among young men, Biden's lead is six points; among young women, it's 33 points.
If young American men see Donald Trump as a role model for a masculinity they want to emulate and promote, then I wonder what kind of society they envisage building for themselves and everyone else.

While its a little surprising that women seem to trust the police more than men, its less of a surprise that after the Metropolitan Police's last few years, this does not hold in London.
Its difficult to see why any women would trust a force that not only seems ambivalent about their welfare, but actually has officers who have violently violated that trust.

The social norm is constructed: not naturally occurring but created by the society in which it is found.
Hence there are no actions which in themselves are inherently #abnormal or universally condemned by all societies at all times. Deviance is thus situational and contextual.
