We here at Fusion Patrol usually stay far, far away from the oscars… or perhaps our content usually stays far, far away from the Oscars, but not last night.
Here’s a big shout-out to Godzilla Minus One for not only pulling off the Oscar Win for Best Visual Effects, but doing so for a budget of $15 million – a minisucle budget compared to the Hollywood blockbusters it was up against.
In honor, this week John and I will be recording our podcast on our thoughts about Godzilla Minus One, and that will be dropping on March 30th.
This morning after another fantastic #Monsterdon event, I remain gobsmacked by the original #Gojira#Godzilla film.
I do not know what headspace I was in when I watched it before, but this time, it hit home HARD.
It is a masterpiece.
After seeing Oppenheimer a few times last year plus reading the book, I've got much more historical context for why this film was made and what it meant -- and also the cultural/film norms that it broke.
Astounding in that context. Excellent food for thought.
It's about an hour (edit: or two >_>;;) until #MONSTERDON, the weekly monster movie watch party! If you want to filter the tag, now's the time to turn it on!
This week we're watching the MAN, the MYTH, GODZILLA (1954) -- the first and last word in monster movies.
This "holiday" is dumb. PLEASE ignore all the stupid propaganda that insists you NEED someone else to make your life complete. You don't. But if you CHOOSE to allow a special someone to share any part of your life, I hope you are lucky enough to have had a Monster that has added some loveliness to your life & makes/made you happy, whether now, in the past, or in the future.
