Some #Israelis think they "must" #vandalize#aid#convoys, destroying food & medical supplies, because starving civilians in #Gaza would surely bring hostages home.
»“We would prefer that we don’t have to do the blockages, honestly,” Ariel said.
“I don’t like ransacking things. It’s not one of my favourite hobbies. But we prefer that to the death of our friends and family, which is what happens the longer this war drags on."«
The significance of last one wasn’t clear to me earlier, but it is enormous. Thanks @w7voa
Basically, it’s saying “If you are rooting for more military action, be prepared to serve in military — no exception for ultra-Orthodox Jews on religious grounds.”
The protesters were demanding the release of all hostages held in #Gaza, calling for new elections and also calling for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin #Netanyahu to resign.
The #israelis, the #americans and other backers of the #israeli religious war in #gaza let the world forget that the #icj in July 2004 referred in its ruling to Art. 51 of the #un#charter which you can read in the second text image in full with comment.
We would add:
Israelis have been a war belligerent since 1967 as they never lifted the declaration of war, and never signed peace with the country it is occupying: #palestine
Peace would also mean to make an end to the occupation.
Absolutely appalling scenes from #Harvard. #Jewish students being harassed. While protesting against the slaughter of civilians by #Israel in #palestine is justified. The usual crap of threats against those who do not agree and calling for harm to the #USA is not acceptable. Also any support for #hamas should result in those doing so being taken away. Hamas have killed many of their own people, and knew exactly what they were doing when they killed so many innocent #Israelis.
@rodlux equally the action of ‘pro Israel’ ( I use the term to refer to the self identified hooligans who beat people and damaged property in support of the Israeli state actions and slaughter) should be condemned.
Calling protesters "Pro-Hamas", because they protest the genocidal slaughtering of #Palestinians in #Gaza by #Israelis, is like calling Americans who fought in WWII, "pro-communist". Nazis at the time were saying they were fighting "Jewish Bolshevik sub-humans".
Oh, wait!… That's what Trump calls the Democrats now: "communist thugs".
Lyndon Johnson, one of the most accomplished POTUS, was forced to withdraw from the presidential race in '68 and never was reelected. Wonder why…
"Like millions of #Israelis, I was also kept ignorant by the state and its educational system on purpose. However, once you unlearn #Zionist propaganda, there is no going back; the world makes so much more sense, and it feels similar to what I have heard of those who escaped a cult."

"Thousands of #Israelis took to the streets in demonstrations against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s far-right government, demanding fresh #elections...
Demonstrators carried torches and posters denouncing #Netanyahu, who is also facing pressure from allies, including the #UnitedStates, over Israel’s punishing military campaign in #Gaza...
@Orijewnal@palestine@israel You are right about the broader points. However, in Israel too there are good Jewish people, just like in every society & community. Unfortunately they are given very little voice & are forcefully suppressed.
But the dominant societal culture in every society — let alone a settler colonial genocidal apartheid society like Israel — will only be toxic & it's only exaggerated beyond belief in Israel as this is one of the most dominant signature that society's whole culture is built around, it has been (since it's inception), is & will go down the drain all its predecessors that behaved like this has gone before.
"6 April 1994, when a #Palestinian man, dispatched by one of the leaders of Hamas’s armed wing, blew himself up at a bus stop in the northern Israeli city of Afula, killing eight #israelis It was expressly an act of vengeance in response to the massacre of 29 worshippers at the Ibrahimi mosque, carried out two months earlier by an Israeli extremist hoping to derail peace talks between the Israeli government and the #PLO." @palestine @israel #history #civilwar #war https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/mar/21/what-is-the-real-hamas
The suicide bombing was also an expression of Hamas’s emerging military strategy. #Hamas leaders saw civilian deaths as Israel’s weak spot, believing they would erode Israelis’ sense of personal security and, ultimately, reduce Israeli resolve.
"A few members of the Commons #foreignaffairscommittee sat in a modest room & took evidence from #Israelis & #Palestinians about how #Britain might actually do something useful to end the bloodshed. The discussion was serious & practical – and delivered precisely zero attention or political benefit to those involved."
@anathema_device I don't really know much about George Galloway. It does seem the only person he is serving is himself, & there is no evidence (according to most "pundits" I respect) that he intends to help the constitutents of Rochdale. I do wish those shouting the loudest about Gaza were actually genuinely motivated to stop the bloodshed, rather than using it to their political (& self serving) advantage. These are human beings we are talking about. Not chess pieces to be moved around at whim.
