Here's the weekly digest thread of my #OPM post: 5 writeups of new (to you, probably) artists and #music for your listening pleasure. #Rock, several flavors of #ambient and #NewAge and more await you within!
Of course, you can read the whole thing, with longer writeups than fit in a single post, here:
Seven tracks of classic-style ambient – lots of #synth washes, an inoffensive arpeggiated synth here and there, the very occasional hint of a beat – each tied to a separate mood. The sound design is solid, showcasing a decent variety of typically ambient textures, with the occasional dip into #synthwave. In true #ambient fashion, this one is easy to get lost in – put it on, turn it down and zone out while it does its thing.
I found this amazing #synthwave (and adjacent genres) artist, #Caspro. You can purchase their entire bandcamp discography for like 10 bucks (22 releases, mostly full length albums!). Total ear candy. Easiest music purchase I've ever made in my life. Since most of this music is instrumental, I'll be jamming this while coding for the foreseeable future.
Das 31. Wave-Gotik-Treffen findet am Wochenende in Leipzig
statt.
Quite enjoying Ubuntu Budgie. Seems to be a little lighter than stock Ubuntu and with fewer issues? I don't know. I did a full install instead of upgrading in place. Luckily the laptop doesn't hold a lot of files.
Some of my previous attempts at #ricing#synthwave and #tiling window managers... I have to claim temporary insanity for some of it, but some of my machines still look like this, lol. (But not my work machine anymore! That got TOOO crazy)
As always, submit your own release or someone else's, it can be by #FediMusicians or not, hosted on #Bandcamp, #Faircamp, #JamCoop, #Mirlo or #SelfHosted, as long as it is by an #IndieArtist (but bonus points for supporting Bandcampers today, as it's the last one for a while).
Simply make a direct comment (with a link & description) to this post and it will appear at https://isitfairtrademusicfri.day automagically!
here are my recommendations for #followfriday, including some fantastic #electronicmusic artists, radio shows + labels and a few great #scifi authors too.
😀
Went back to a lite theme on my phone.
Initially because one of my apps just isn't well-suited to a dark theme (I imagine the dev(s) are either pretty young, or don't use thr dark theme themselves).
But i found that things are generally just more readable in a light theme, only because there's just more light.
I was constantly having to crank up the brightness to a hundred percent when I was using a dark theme.
Still dark on a couple laptops (#SynthWave, yo!)
I'll probably keep it that way
