"Just 10 "superspreader" users on #Twitter were responsible for more than a third of the misinformation posted over an eight-month period, according to a new report.
In total, 34% of the "low credibility" content posted to the site between January & October of 2020 was created by the 10 users identified by researchers based in the US & UK. More than 70 per cent of posts came from just 1,000 accounts.
I am a tiny bit sad. If only because now I will remember a number -- 23149880 -- that is truly and completely obsolete. I really need to conserve brain space for more important things.
Also, if ICQ can last, what, 15 years? after it became irrelevant, what does that say about how long we're going to have to suffer with Twitter/X if people ever actually leave en-masse?
@chris I had a pretty short one, but lost access at some point, and then I had a longer one. I don't remember either. I don't think I've used it at all in 20 years or so? I did work at a site semi recently where a piece of equipment made that "uh oh!" sound and it brought me right back! :GrinLotje:
"Elon claims that X is now up to 600 million monthly active users, and around 300 million daily actives."
"X also reported reaching 500 million monthly users in March 2023, so based on these stats, X seemingly added 50 million more users in a year, but has now added another 50 million in just eight weeks."
😂😂😂
Highly doubt X gained 50 million users in only 8 weeks.
"TWITTER IS OFFICIALLY dead. Last week, twitter.com became x.com, marking the final step in a rebranding effort that the company’s owner, Elon Musk, announced last year. The change marks a shift for the now birdless app under Musk’s reign, which has welcomed Nazis and white supremacists back to the platform, dissolved its Trust and Safety council, and has become a cesspool of disinformation and conspiracy."
@hcj Thanks for the compliment! I actually created it because a) I wanted my profile to look better, b) there was no Android app that had all the visual things I wanted :blob_smile_sweat:
