The law, which one of its sponsors in the state #Senate called the most significant #ban on diversity offices in higher #education in the country, comes as U.S. #SupremeCourt later this month is widely expected to ban colleges and universities from considering #race as a factor in their admissions decisions. #DEI
"Although DeSantis claims he targeted the school specifically for their “progressive culture,” the fact is that this particular college dealt a major blow to Florida’s white supremacist movement...If someone like Derek Black, son of the [#KKK Grand Wizard] can change his mind with exposure to diversity, equality, and inclusion, what the hell will that do to people who weren’t raised to hate others?"
If you need diversity training, it is your responsibility to make sure that you are getting trainers who will ensure they're not creating an unsafe environment for the attendees.
If you're hiring an org that does training for police, you're probably off to a terrible start.
These sessions are often mandatory meaning you are introducing power dynamics that coerce marginalized attendees to not prioritize their own safety.
For all the people out there railing against the cult of #DEI, do you want to know why it's important. Because Ive been standing in a line for nearly an hour now behind a customer. Is it because they don't have the med? over loaded? annoying customer? Nope, the system won't accept a 2 letter surname but if they try to work around it the system rejects scanning their ID because the names don't match. The pharmacist is frustrated, the customer is embarrassed, and all of us are annoyed because some bro decided everyone has a surname and they are all at least 3 characters #RealStoriesOfWhyDeiIsImportant
