“Design ethnography aims to explore the grammar and patterns through which the reality of the lifeworlds it investigates is produced, not to colonise those worlds with their own values”
Francis Müller, “Design Ethnography”, 2021
I wonder whether this will help with #Rahere?
Kneeler commemorating Sir Thomas More's Fool, Henry Patenson, stitched by the actor Ernest Thesiger, and pictured in "Kneelers" by Elizabeth Bingham, one of my Christmas presents this year. #canvaswork#DesignResearch#designing#Research
Can't believe I've just done this!
In the final report of my latest design research for a cultural organisation I've just put it loud an clear: if you are really concerned about your users, you don't need this new product, because, as usual, your users' unsatisfaction has some deeper and more complex roots, that, no, cannot be address with another shiny digital product.
Finally, we did it! 😊
Happy to see how Sound Design increasingly understands itself as a design discipline, with all this ideally entails: focusing on human (and other lifeforms') needs, acknowledging ethical responsibility, striving for participation, inclusion and diversity (a big issue...), in addition to strive for aesthetics and the "oomph".
I'm doing a piece of design research work on Streets for Diversity and am looking to reach people who identify as neurodivergent.
The work is with Royal College of Art's research centres. If you identify as neurodivergent or experience sensory sensitivities, we want to hear from you.
Can you share your experiences/wishes of the streets in a survey with us in this survey?
Musing: What would be a breakthrough in #hci or #designresearch? As you would get them in engineering or medical research or physics? An undisputable „now we know/can do X which eluded us for ages“?
KidsTeam UW will have a full-day summer program from July 24 – 28, 2023, and 2x a week meetups after school on Tu/Th. We are especially interested in working with BIPOC & girls.
Hey Fediverse 👋 I’m a Lead Product Designer, so I’ll mostly be talking about and following people who are interested in the craft of product design (or whatever we’re calling that discipline this week).
Technology and leading product teams will probably come up a lot too. Let's chat.
Child of the mid-late 90s 3DFPS-www-newsgroups-icq-linux frenzy, experienced the rise of web 2.0 when it felt like the fediverse feels now. This feeling is part of the reason why I'm here - call it midlife crisis 2.0.
