It's a HUGE upgrade, when you compare these cinematics with other ND visual novels. Can't wait to get a feel of the gameplay that they, most likely, improved in accordance to general feedback as well.
There is so much to do in and explore new locations: in 3D, no less! Essentially, you can have a ride to Prague as the detective Nancy Drew in this game and play brain crackers, haha. :blobcattea:
Despite me being positive about #ND34, the newest entry for #NancyDrew videogame series, there is a merit in finding how we've got here in the first place and if #HerInteractive is a trustworthy studio.
Right of the gate, we see the drastic difference in how previous, #ND33 game performed after successful 32 inclusions... It's darn #MID, if you ask me. :thisIsFine: So, it was being developed after the big #layoff in Her, where most positions got bestowed on a new crew. Only that it was going hand-in-hand with new CEO's delusion of a #passion mobile project. Add here a camp of the #fanbase which insists on a regular ND release schedule, #hustle culture, and you have a case of rushed development, #crunch and leaving everyone with a subpar ND game. If anything, I guess old crew was spared nerve cells in expense of new blood being under equally subpar direction - lucky to be fired, unlucky to be hired? Oof.
Is recent inclusion in the series taking long a bad thing? No.
Think back when #NancyDrew "golden era" 32 games were in works. That was a reoccurring achievement of perseverance, expression of collective talents that the old #HerInteractive crew renewed with every entry. 2 videogames a year is a CRAZY thing to pull off!!! But the game industry is not celebrating this, because the ways were changing during last two decades.
Catching breaks, being mindful of your employees and fans suddenly has a healing effect on the game studio and entire game series. Even though the direction took #ND34 Mystery of the Seven Keys to what some instinctively call "modern videogame standard", there will be loyal fans of old format and new age progressive players to tell you about their great time with point-and-click adventures of Nancy Drew. We should remain grateful to old crew, but also forge ahead, giving new folks a room to learn from the errors that #hustle culture should be banned for!

After doing this for a week, I’ve been invited by HR to give a presentation to the company about how to be more efficient at work. Or at least, I think that’s what it’s about.

Weil man denkt, man könne, wenn man nur hart genug den #hustle fährt, noch aufs Rettungsboot aufspringen, während der Rest ersäuft. Jetzt oder nie. Und auch wenn es extremst unwahrscheinlich ist dass du das schaffst, scheint das momentan doch wahrscheinlicher und greifbarer als dass wir einen Weg finden unser Gesellschaftssystem und die Limitationen unseres Planeten unter einen Hut zu kriegen und allen 8 Milliarden Menschen auf dem Planeten eine halbwegs sichere Existenz zu ermöglichen. Einen Gegenentwurf dazu gibt es von keiner anderen Partei und diesen zu suchen scheint auch keine Priorität zu haben. Hilft sicherlich auch nicht, dass das eine mal, als die Sozialdemokraten mit den Grünen regiert haben, diese Parteien alles getan haben um das bisschen Solidarität, die zwischen den Menschen noch bestand, kaputt zu machen.
I'm glad that these "smart rules of engagement," as the piece calls them, will restrict the number of innocent humans we murder remotely with robots to an acceptable level. It will be a great comfort to those families who lose a loved one to know that we were "near certain" their loved one wouldn't be killed before we did just that.
