I have a custom domain I bought through Squarespace for a site they're currently hosting, but I want to move my site elsewhere. I could leave the domain at Squarespace, but I kind of want to transfer it elsewhere, too. Thoughts? Suggestions for another host that isn't GoDaddy? 😛

I’m trying out Trello for our coop, on a recommendation. We need something for tracking rolling todo lists that repeat weekly / monthly / other-timscalely for jobs that are distributed across the coop to avoid silo-ing.
I’m veering between thinking Trello isn’t built for this, that’s it’s overkill for our needs, and that it’s a half-baked pile of shite.
Any tips? (I value stuff that actually works over stuff that is FOSS.)
Is there already a tool that will tell me what packages or source control systems own a file? I know how to do it for rpm, and I imagine it’s similarly straightforward for the Debian ecosystem, but I want to ask once and get rpm, pip, git, svn, node, maven, whatever. #linux#tools#LazyWeb

Dear #CNC#Metalwork#Lazyweb, if you had 100 aluminium enclosures with 1.6mm thick end-plates that you'd planned to mill some openings into (1x rectangular, 6x round) but you've discovered that the alloy is some part-aluminium-part-cowdung rubbish that stretches rather than cuts (even drilling a hole with a twist drill is a horrible experience), what could you do. 4-flute endmills don't even cut, they just bulge the metal. A 4mm 1f endmill is the least awful (so far).

there has to be a better way than to add one word at a time to each dictionary of each writing app!
am a polyglot and refuse to maintain 5 language dictionaries, siloed from each other. so i always end up just adding all the languages i write, ONE WORD AT A TIME, to whatever default english dico comes with the OS and apps.
Is there any TLD registry (not registrar) and accompanying domain name extension (.com, .net and so on) out there that’s owned by a small/independent, i.e. trustworthy business? Feels like they’re all owned by some creepy mega-corp.
.blog owned by Automattic is a decent example, though they’re not exactly very indie anymore, and have come under strong scrutiny of late. I wonder if there are even better alternatives.

Hello MacOS-using photographers. Is there an easy way to add EXIF data to the Finder, or a utility to see EXIF when browsing file folders? As I browse my memory cards, I want to be able to confirm which camera was used, and maybe look at GPS data if available.
The past couple days I spent so many hours trying to get PyPodcats website to work (using Hugo).
The reason it took so long was because I thought the theme uses bootstrap, and I was googling about "how to do X in bootstrap", but nothing seemed to work.
Then I tried comparing my bootstrap version vs the one from the internet. And that's when I learned that we're using tailwind instead of bootstrap 😥

/extremely/ hard water that otherwise is pretty clean, no iron/chlorine/etc
municipality does allow sodium-based softening tho we're considering potassium anyway for environmental reasons
