So evidently Element now has screen sharing and voice chat integrated in an “always on” room. All with encrypted messages. Making a really strong case for me to potentially ditch Revolt. But moving my friends yet again might be impossible

While we're still working on an in-game tutorial for Matrix hacking, here's a quick YouTube guide we put together: https://youtube.com/watch?v=HXn6OSRzvIQ

Learn to hack to drop the alarm level, control security devices, get valuable paydata, and complete CPU spike missions.

anyone using ? how do you like it? how's their storage of credentials? that's the only bit that really makes me nervous.

i'm also curious how well works for it. my general experience with matrix as an end user with "normal" people has been overall terrible, even with great projects like @element

shadowwwind,
@shadowwwind@fosstodon.org avatar

@hobbsc @element depends, you login on the client and they scrape the session ID's and store them on their server.
But they also work on new version of the bridges, currently in Android there is a local Signal bridge where they keep the session ID locally. That was possible with SMS too once, but they didnt add that back in the 2.0 android app.
They have merged with texts.com which is fully locally so who knows what will happen there.

@didek

primarily I want to share one id/account. we don't need separate private messaging here. when people try to do that, it should be a matrix conversation. etc.

Likely a result of recent Slack shenanigans, the pressure on the matrix.org server is a good reminder of why I should just run my own instance. It also just adds to my appreciation of how much nicer it is to run and use .

@homer77 It's not just you, we are experiencing degraded service: https://status.matrix.org/incidents/xc97xxqg9hqh

There was a performance regression introduced on Tuesday which the team is working to resolve, unfortunately exacerbated today by weekly end-of-week traffic peak. We are so sorry for the inconvenience!

You know who will never mine your private communications to train an LLM?

Better yet, you know whose words you don't need to trust, because you aren't obligated to use any particular server? And the software is open source? And regularly audited by security researchers?

Matrix.

It's not perfect, but no tool is. It's a matter of what trade offs you're willing to accept. Just sayin' ¯_(ツ)_/¯

PS. If Matrix is good enough for the United Nations, the French civil service, the German healthcare system, and a ton of FOSS projects, it's probably good enough for your community or company, too.
