Definition of utter insanity - Ontario will be cancelling funding of wastewater surveillance for ALL diseases - this as Covid is once again on the rise and H5N1 is lurking as a potential new pandemic
Lmfao, they write up a sob story for the poor little lord sleeping in the basement of his restaurant but only briefly ask why he doesn't just use his tenant's rent to cover his own rental while he waits for the LTB decision.
His response? "I should not have to do that."
The fucking entitlement.
Does this tenant have a restaurant to sleep in? Do they have a rental income to subsidize their housing? Fuck you CBC.
Reminder that the city of #ottawa likes to unilaterally decide when summer starts and ends. Has Britannia Beach been packed for weeks already? Did a 9-yr old just die? Yes. Will this change the city’s approach to funding how the city operates in an era where it’s much warmer for longer? No probably not. The speakers mentioning no lifeguards are on duty are like speed signs. Meh, that’s enough #ontario#onpoli https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/britannia-beach-dead-child-june-2024-1.7222570
I was just thinking back to the mental health screening I had earlier last week with a psychiatric nurse. It just broke my heart to see how overworked she was. Working through lunch, then giving me a callback after 6 PM. Ontario's premier Doug Ford is purposefully making her life miserable so he can show a balanced budget, while lavishing hundreds of millions on land speculators and alcohol purveyors.
I wish I knew how to get through to non-voters that elections are important. #ONPoli#CanPoli
Hi, fellow #canadians I have heard that yall are nice. #onpoli#cdnpoli you to do a nice thing and call this premier and tell him how this statement is hurtful.
onpoli #cdnpolimacists he has no problem saying “this is an ongoing investigation and it is hard to comment on it” but dragging immigrants into it is easy for him?
Although there are no suspects in the shooting at the empty Jewish girls school two days ago in Toronto, Premier Doug Ford this morning wrongly blamed immigrants for the rise in antisemitism in Ontario.
Once again the Conservative Party flaunts their racist rhetoric and tries to deflect from their own Trump-style home-grown rage farming that is dividing Canadians at a time when we need to be united to solve our problems.
@gemelliz
Today there was a Trudeau-Ford joint announcement about an investment in a vaccine factory after that questions from the press. While discussing the recent shooting at a Jewish girls school Trudeau and the mayor of Toronto spoke about the need for safety and how the rise in antisemitism is unacceptable, Ford pulled a " racist Trump move".
Completely ignoring the home grown Conservative rage-farming....
Ford: "Those of you coming to Canada to cause trouble..."🤦
Gunna have to make multiple reminders a day on my phone cuz this fucking sucksssss. I have friends with Lyme’s disease and it’s like another form of long #covid#ontario#ottawa#onpoli#publichealth
The City of Ottawa's plans to put some non-urgent patients in taxis has been blocked by Ontario's Ministry of Health, leaving paramedics with one less option to deal with backed-up emergency rooms
Hey #ottawa OC Transpo announced this morning that you can now pay for #publictransit with an Interac Debit Card. This is in addition to being able to pay with a credit card or mobile pay on any bus or LRT station #ontario#onpoli
"Some have quite rightly asked: Is it really worth $225 million not to have to wait another 18 months? The answer is absolutely not. It’s grotesque. What the government should have done was simply cancel the existing MFA with The Beer Store via legislation, on the grounds it was a product of rank political corruption. (In fact it said it would do this, but legislation to that effect was never enacted.)"
Apparently I’ll be getting the wondrous $7.85 from this LifeLabs “settlement”… I’m giddy that I’ll be able to buy a round trip pass on OC Transpo with this 🙃 curious what else I can buy with $7.86. Maybe we all pool our big earnings off of stolen data for purchasing power? #onpoli#cdnpoli#ottawa
It makes sense that Ford would call an election because there is no opposition, voter turnout out would probably be the same as last time, the PCs have been using our $$$ non-stop the past few months to highlight their successes and because if PP wins, well there is historical precedent that shows the province would dump his provincial affiliation to the federal #ontario#ottawa#onpoli#cdnpolihttps://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/alcohol-sales-convenience-stores-ontario-1.7213546
It makes sense, I don't really like any of options. Our options are:
Doug Ford
Bonnie Crombie, who isn't going to be better.
Marit Stiles, who is giving narcissistic vibes, see the picture below which is the first picture on the Ontario NDP's website.
Mike Schreiner, supports Lecce's stupid war on students.
I don't want to vote in the election, but probably will. I don't think most voters like me will vote though.
Chatted with a pharmacist this week about #covid boosters and they can only give them to folks over 65 and immunocompromised… unsure what kind of documentation that requires but province won’t pay for anything other… all the while movie industry folks I follow on social media show that everyone (actors don’t but everyone around them do) on movie sets still have to mask or they lose insurance coverage. So curious why #ottawa#cdnpoli#onpoli
I walked down Scott St yesterday for a few kms and I can’t even remember how many people I saw driving and texting. Stopped at an intersection and using their phones. Using a phone and driving is more dangerous than drinking and driving but the big, bad repercussions do fuck all at deterring people because “repercussions” are political window dressing. Like, the chances of killing someone while you text and drive are pretty fucking high, but, well, shrug from all involved #cdnpoli#onpoli
