Pixelfed Brain Trust: I'm trying to import my Instagram history into my own self-hosted server, but the importer is asking for a media.json file that no longer exists in Instagram's latest data download format. Furthermore, there is also NO photos directory either.
Is Pixelfed lagging Instagram on this front or has someone addressed this? Note that I installed the server last night, so I should be up to date with the latest codebase.
Yesterday I started messing around with Pixelfed via Pxlmo and I do like it. Very early Instagram feel. I posted 3 posts last night- a post with 4 images first, and 2 single ones after that. Below is a screenshot of what all 3 look like via the Pxlmo interface in Chrome (browser version, there's currently no Android app I could find) on an Android.
I just clicked on the link to my profile here in Tusky and my account does load in the app, but only the first 4-shot post is showing up. It's a start! 🤣

If you don't have a Pixelfed account yet, consider getting one! For artists, there are options like the portfolio view or collections of your own work.
Once I get off of #Instagram, I am gonna lose access to all of the cute and funny content. I am really going to miss that. Anyone know if this stuff can be found on #Mastodon anywhere?
@elliot@pixelfed I'm on #Pixelfed already (not with this account, rather @muiiio - maybe it makes more sense to keep them separate), but I don't have the app on my phone for now. Also, I did set up #BigRelay and I'm following some hashtags. Hopefully I will start seeing some fun stuff as well - so far my own version of the #Fediverse has been very serious.
We haven't been properly handling blocks, we didn't remove blocked accounts from your followers/following, update follower/following counts or remove all notifications from the blocked account.
We fixed this, and shipped a migration to fix accounts you've previously blocked.

I think @pixelfed is the first fediverse project to ship a list (1.6 MB) of cloud server ip address ranges that are used to block access to auth and api routes by default.

We just shipped php 8.2 support and improved our anti-spam/abuse mitigation by blocking requests from known cloud server ip ranges (AWS, Azure, Cloudflare, Digital Ocean, GCP and Oracle)!
