Here it is, my top 20 albums of 2023. It's not ALL metal, although there's a lot of metal. I know not everyone likes metal (or brutal death metal) - but there's some rap, some punk, a little post punk- actually, my top 3 here are all non-metal.
As always, let me know your thoughts, especially if you check some of them out, or already have.
I'm a 48 yr old #GenX gal who still loves lots of #OldSchool#PunkRock#music🤘
Throw some of your fave old school #punk#music & art on this post - if you're also a GenX & still love lots of older punk rock tunes 😊
Starting to compile my list for best albums of 2023 (and for some kind of album of the year). It's super tough because there's so many great ones this year-- and several still to come! Will put out (or keep putting out) an updated list(s) once I narrow it down more or add more.
CONTENDERS:
Cannibal Corpse
Desekryptor
Dripped
Dying Fetus

I love when bands have art that shows what's happening in a song. Album art is a lost art.
Luckily, there's still bands like MOAR that do it.
In this case, the art below is for their KILLER new song "Salt Suffered Speed", the second track on their amazing new album 'Baby I Am Cheap'. I've raved about it here before.
I mentioned Bingo Boys' 2023 record 'Freak Out & Leave' in February, how I was upset I somehow missed it last year. They're from Indianapolis, Indiana and make some incredible catchy, melodic psych-ish garage/punk.
I've been going through their back catalog today and they don't even have bad songs. 🤯
Bingo Boys put out a couple singles this/last year which are unfortunately only on Spotify, but Bandcamp has several of theirs too- ALL good: https://bingoboys.bandcamp.com
I mentioned this album on Wednesday, but now that it's out and I just listened to all of it, I can confirm that 'The Future is the Pits' is a certified banger. SEVERAL times as I was listening, I was like, DAMN this is catchy! The WHOLE thing is.
If you like fun, raucous bluesy garage rock/punk, Australia's Sick Fizz are definitely for you. What an ALBUM. Another serious contender for my top 20 that I can't currently see something knocking off the list.
Albums I have my eye on that are coming out this month or next:
Afterbirth - In But Not Of - Oct 20
Autopsy - Ashes, Organs, Blood and Crypts - Oct 27
R.M.F.C - Club Hits - Nov 3
Suffocation - Hymns from the Apocrypha - Nov 3
Scream - DC Special - Nov 10
The Dwarves - Concept Album - Nov 17
The Judges - Judgment Day - Nov 24
Anybody a Bouncing Souls fan? Saw them several times many years ago, I don't know why I randomly thought of this song today, but it's always there, just with me. My wife hadn't heard of them, so I told her about it and its lyrics. All 47 beautiful seconds.
I'm a huge 7SECONDS fan, especially the stuff they've done since 1999. I play their 1999 one and also their 2005 and 2014 ones a LOT. Their most recent one in 2014 was 'Leave a Light On' (below) and it's of course a damn masterpiece. It's been 10 years, it would be so cool to get another one from these guys.
What were the first three albums that really got you into punk rock?
My first three that I can recall were:...
