Mmm, snake meat. As a protein source it's even more efficient than harvesting crickets!
I suppose MAYBE ... conceivably ... a factory farm swarming with hundreds of thousands of pythons could pose some risk to the neighborhood. But: say bye-bye to your rat problem.

This discovery shows that these #sediments were formed in a river, a delta or near the shore of an ancient lake. It raises questions about #oxydation processes on Mars... and reinforces the hypothesis of past #habitability...
NOAA just issued the Severe (G4) level geomagnetic storm watch for May 11, 2024
After updating their model by taking today's X2.2 flare from AR3664 into account, NOAA just issued the Severe (G4) level geomagnetic storm watch for May 11, 2024!
Meanwhile, sunspots AR3664 just produced another X1.1 flare an hour ago. Will we get an Extreme (G5) geomagnetic storm this Saturday?
American Samoa’s Sinking Land Speeds Up Sea Level Rise - Eos
In American Samoa, the sea is rising 4 times faster than the global average. And an ongoing project has shown that land subsidence is to blame: The crust is relaxing after an earthquake and tsunami in 2009, compounding the effects of climate change.
"Memories are made by breaking DNA — and fixing it. Nerve cells form long-term memories with the help of an inflammatory response, study in mice finds."
[#ScienceNews@IRAP ] In 2029, the ESA and JAXA joint #CometInterceptor mission will take off from the Kourou Space Center aboard an #Ariane6. Objective: to study a #comet in its original state - or even an object of interstellar origin.
On March 5, @IRAP delivered the functional electrical model of the Low-Energy Electron Spectrometer (1 eV-1 keV) which is part of the #DFP (Dust, Fields, Particles) experiment. The future is on the way! 👍

Unicellular eukaryotes called Euglenids that aren't animal, vegetable, mineral, bacterium or fungi but are a bizarre fusion of life - they gain energy through both photosynthesis AND consuming other beings 🤯
The rafts that fire ants form to survive flood waters can be either brittle or ductile, depending on how rapidly the structure is stretched. (Story page has a video).
Cosmologists have a dark energy fix for the Hubble tension—a mismatch between two Universe-expansion-rate measurements. However, a new study shows that this fix messes up predictions for a set of hydrogen absorption lines for quasars.
#mythbusting: Damage to roads from ice comes from the growth of ice crystals, not the expansion of water as it freezes. Now researchers show that the number of crystals an ice block contains determines how bad the damage will be.
