Hello :fediverse: … I am testing out a beta comment system integrated into my wiki. Add a comment to my latest music release Trois Esquisses by adding a comment to this post
If you want something lighter, you can use the barcode plugin with #TiddlyWiki to generate barcodes right in your browser!
The bar code plugin is already installed on the demo page at TiddlyWiki.com.
There's also the ability to read-in bar codes from your camera. (To be honest, I haven't tried this yet).
Yes! @causalislands comes to LA 👾 I am excited to be presenting a talk titled “Using #TiddlyWiki For Personal Knowledge Curation” on 23 March at Monk Space
I will delve into the ethos of the digital garden, personal knowledge management, and some @TiddlyWiki methodologies 🫧
Does anyone use #emacs as a personal wiki, or do you prefer something like #tiddlywiki?
Chatting with a friend who thinks that it would be a lot of work to configure #orgmode as a wiki, but I think it pretty much has all the features, right?
It's an odd thing, people are always demanding that #TiddlyWiki look or act like logseq, roam, etc., but no one makes the demand that roam, etc. look like TiddlyWiki.
There's little downside to adding plugins to TiddlyWiki, if that's what you need. And most plugins will continue to work version after version, and even after the plugin author has left the community.
But it seems like every user of Obsidian ends up needing dataview. Which apparently will no longer be maintained.
TiddlyWiki is a pretty great tool for building static sites, if you aren't keen on arranging plain text files yourself. Here's how I publish my home wiki to a static, public site: http://wiki.sixohthree.com/wiki-setup.html
PKM/note-taking is still huge over on YouTube, and there’s lots of methods like PARA, Cornell system, etc — my system is simply capture notes in text (org mode in my case) and use ripgrep to find things later. No refile, no review.
This is kind of #shitposting , but I imagine some people get overwhelmed seeing all this content and never actually start — here’s permission to just start taking notes without a system.
@mathiasx "without a system" is ... a stretch for me, org-mode (and Tiddlywiki on WebDAV elsewhere) made note-taking frequent enough for notes to be of use.
Anyone have experience setting up a wiki? My webhost (BlueHost) has four different wiki installs available and I have no idea which to choose: DocuWiki, MediaWiki, PmWiki, and WikkaWiki.
I'm reasonably tech-savvy. Not a programmer, but I understand shell scripts and basic HTML/CSS.
My goal is a wiki to organize and share campaign notes for my homebrew D&D campaign. Centered around a big map with links off to pages that expand on locations, people, factions, & history.
I think if you just start off playing with the #Tiddly family, you'll be more than pleasantly surprised and it will grow and morph to your own requirements.
My PhD supervisor is super cool, he mentioned he is hacking some stuff based on #TiddlyWiki@TiddlyWikihttps://tiddlywiki.com/
"The world's most popular single-file reusable non-linear personal web notebook (est. 2004)" so I should definitely have a look at it!
Trying to understand tiddlywiki. I think@valpackett has made something which connects to it and is usable on a phone but I'm having trouble understanding what it is for at the moment. Still reading the docs #tiddlywikihttps://tiddly.packett.cool/
@Sbectol yes, generally that's what happens but I think it's possible to have a multi-file TW. But I'm aware that some TWs have many 1000s of tiddlers. I'm still a novice but the community is great and really helpful. I'll admit the documentation can be difficult but it's easy to start simple and see what happens. Go to https://tiddlywiki.com/ and poke around. Join the discussion group at https://talk.tiddlywiki.org/
1/16 This July, I gave an invited talk in the "Communicating Science Through Art" session at the European Astronomical Society annual meeting, organized by the amazing @theastrophoenix . And I thought it may be something that would also interest you #fediverse folks.
The aim of the talk was partly to give people insight into my why & how of my art. But mainly to encourage others to just try. In a very subjective manner.
@Jermolene hi Jeremy 👋 saw your follow. Nice to e-acquaint :)
I once had this discussion on an - for me - ideal mix of wiki technology and social web. And then took notes into an idea at Social Coding Movement to patiently wait for its time to come. Maybe it interests you in context of #TiddlyWiki ..
@smallcircles much appreciated, thank you! Always happy to answer #TiddlyWiki questions and point you in the right direction if you do dive in further. I'll be enjoying your toots in the meantime
What’s the current state of the art for self-hosted “tools for thought” (knowledge base / notes.) Particularly, looking for the server component and a backup story, that then can work with some frontend mobile app like Logseq/Roam/Obsidian?
