Cherry Audio does it again, out with yet another classic recreation.
"In 1979, the pioneers at ARP Instruments began researching and developing one of the most ambitious synthesizer designs of that time [...] a 16-voice polyphonic marvel, controlled by a microprocessor, with aftertouch and advanced signal routing and modulation."
Tried the demo for Heavier7Strings sample-based guitar VST, and it's pretty darn impressive! I'm a guitarist, but don't always have a recording setup ready to go, so this rocks a lot.
The price is a little steep (i.e. just above my impulse purchase limit), and so I'm wavering.
The chuggas and meedlies may finally win me over, though.
Having now written the same PoC plugin from scratch three times for different APIs:
#CLAP is by far my favorite: open, very clean, no bullshit
#AUv3 is obtuse in a way APIs / frameworks by big corporations tend to be. Logic / GarageBand being the de facto implementations, their bugs in effect become undocumented parts of the API
#VST3... oh boy. Steinberg shot for the moon when a ladder would be enough, as demonstrated by CLAP. Awful experience.
THE ELKA PANTHER ORGAN (Elka Panthera pardus organum) HAS NOW BEEN TAMED AND PUT ON A LEASH AS A VST/AU PLUG-IN FOR BOTH WINDOWS AND MAC PLATFORMS. THIS BIG ..
So here it is: Panacea, my first plugin. Panacea is an autopan audio effect plugin with the possibility of humanization, syncing to the host tempo and basic visualization for 64-bit Linux (VST2) and Windows (VST2, VST3). With its help, you can easily add more life and variety to your music.
Panacea is free and open source software released under the GPLv3 license.
