Been fun, although my back and knees have been aching at times.
Not bad for a first timer, I think. Hope they like it and the company installing the wheelchair ramp don't make a mess of things. They have certain norms that make the ramp absolutely ginourmous - 7m plus a platform, longer than the entire terrace.
Put together some organization trays for the garage this evening. 3/4" plywood and 1/8" masonite. Glue, 15ga brads, and the new toy for the evening, an 18ga narrow crown stapler!
The 18ga stapler is incredibly nice for attaching 1/8" sheet stock. I still wouldn't consider these trays very strong, but I don't have a good way to cut dados in my driveway so this will do for now. #woodworking
I recently thought of buying online a Japanese saw to replace my bad back saw. This afternoon, in a second-hand clothes and other stuff shop, amongst the rusty screwdrivers, I came across a Dozuki saw (Z-Saw brand).
...
New.
For €2.

Bought 8 Bessey K-Body clamps. They look and feel like cheap nasty clamps. They aren't cheap. Wont be buying Bessey clamps again. Not sure why people claim they're great. #woodworking
Today I built a small ramp out of two pieces of scrap wood. I usually do #squats on flat ground and with minimal shoes. To do more for the quads, I'm going to try alternating them with elevated heels as well. #fitness#workout#woodworking
For the #woodworking Mastodon, does anyone know why is taking me forFUCKever to send down my door to raw wood. I don't have a lot of clues but here is what I can gather:
Clue A: there was oil paint on the door that I removed with a heat gun
Clue B: the solid part of the door is easier to sand, the 3 thin panels take the most time
Clue C: I think the panels are plywood but don't quote me on that
Clue D: I'm using an orbital sander and delta sander. At the beginning I started by usind 120 sandpaper but now I work with anything between 40 and 80.
Clue E: I belive I'm on week 2 or 3 of sending, it doesn't seem like I take that much of the material.
Clue F: I tried using acetone to go through the leftover paint and the dark wood layer but with no luck
I think this is my favorite part; standing in the middle of a warehouse full of wood that’s waiting to be made into something. Looking at grain, color, size, durability. So much potential. 😊
Those who rise to the top in just about any discipline you care to name got there by high levels of self demand and self discipline. They chose the path, stuck to it, lived it, came through the hard and often gruelling pinch points and all to gain the ultimate mastery all skilled work demands.
