Sometimes the angles are too difficult for CAD: "cardboard aided design". In these cases you have to switch to NAD: "newspaper aided design" 😂

Finished another addition to our backyard ninja course: the vertical peg board! Started this last year but finding the right size for the holes was tricky.

Definitely VERY hard. How's your 1-arm pullup strength? 😆

#HandCrafted #Whistle n°27.
Maybe it's getting a bit crazy 🤔
The pipe inside makes a V-shaped round trip. You modulate the note by moving your thumb in front of the pipe outlet.
Bird cherry #wood (Prunus padus), stained with walnut stain then polished with a bone. Shellac varnish.

Close-up of the animal's head. It looks a bit like a smiling elephant seal biting its lower lip.

One of the tools I use for is , but there is still a lot I have to learn. There are a lot of YT-Channels offering tutorials for FreeCad, but one of the most valuable, if not the best, for woodworkers is Geoff Glasson's channel and I highly recommend it.

Organic certified wood glue! (In all seriousness, condiment containers are superior to what wood glue is sold in normally. This is bulk refilled)

Hearing protection when working with loud tools - what do you use?

Are these auto-muting ones good? They seem like a good idea, but how is it in practice?

My problem with hearing protection is that tool use is intermittent but I don't want to be deaf and oblivious the whole time. Nor constantly pull them on and off (or worse, in and out).

Returned to my workbench recently, and tonight I finished sanding on the largest staff I've made yet-- it's an inch or two taller than I am (5 foot 11) and is as wide as a soda can at the head end.

I've decided I'm going to inscribe references to as much of the knowledge I've gained in my Druidic pursuits on its surface as possible. I'm hopeful I can do enough to submit images of it, with explanations, as my Druidic review to formally finish the grade with OBOD.

Anyone have a pair of impact-rated safety glasses they really like? I've dealt with whatever I can find at the hardware store long enough, and would consider a "nicer" upgrade if it also reduced the amount of dust that gets in around the edges.
I need them to fit over glasses. I'd prefer earpieces to a headband, but I'll deal if it's effective and comfortable. Also needs to accommodate a respirator.
Do not recommend full-face shields, please.

I made a thing. New side table with legs from a ikea thing I remade and some wonderful old beams as a tabletop.

Same table seen from above. Wonderful details in the old wood.

Some & subsequent for my , in a bid to tidy up my desk a bit. When I found my charger nice and hot from being magnetically stuck to some nail clippers, shorting out, I figured it was time.

Used techniques for joinery, allowing me to evolve each piece to incorporate new features. A little dovetail in each joint with the back spine lets me swap out pieces, mix and match colours too.
