TL;DR they fundamentally misunderstand #Putin's reasons for starting the war & are thus unable to grasp how to end it:
#Russia is using #POWs captured in #Ukraine to try to pressure their families to #protest against the #Government in #Kyiv, rather than exchanging them for their own POWs in Ukraine.
This cruel tactic serves 3 goals for the #Kremlin:
-Torments the POWs in their custody
-Destabilizes the Ukrainian gov't by creating mistrust
-Keeps their own soldiers held by Ukraine from returning to Russian society where they are seen as a liability by the authorities.

Reminds me of all those Chinese officials who used to complain about "Western Censorship" on #BirdChan because they had labels on their accounts. #SpaceKaren removed those labels AND the app is still illegal in China. A win for the authoritaria...uh...I mean "Freedom of Speech."
