This should be a viral national story in . After this team unanimously unionized, Google refused to come to the bargaining table.

A resolution supporting the workers was brought to the city council. The day the workers showed up to testify on the resolution, Google laid off the entire team.

This was the precise instant when YouTube Music employees became aware that we had lost our jobs, as we were addressing the City Council.

Photography has been such a gift in my life. I still work full time but try to get out with the camera at least three or four days a week even if it’s just real quick. It doesn’t feel “normal” when I don’t. My monthly camping trips always have a photography component; sometimes it’s the only thing I do the entire weekend.

I'm only partway thru this & I'm already furious. The experience of a disabled Canadian in US healthcare after she broke both her legs while on vacation.

The inadequacy of the pain scale used in healthcare processing. The unwillingness to grant that disabled people are the experts on their own disabilities. The bigotry against homeless people. The passing of notes between staff labeling patients as "non-compliant" or other BS so that they are always treated poorly.

I'm also not happy that so many people have been socialized to think that pointing out flaws - esp flaws that hurt you - is being "Debbie Downer". Toxic positivity is a scourge. There's looking for the positive and then there's constantly shaming anyone who points out the flaws in our systemic oppressions.

Toxic positivity is another tool of hegemons, IMO.

Yet another example of why it is crucial to dismantle ableism throughout UC - which trains many medical personnel.

Disabled people are heavily policed around our disability - repeatedly sent to doctors to fill forms to "prove" we're disabled.

Watch this linked video to get a glimpse at how inaccessible medical offices are, how untrained medical personnel are in disability, etc. It's infuriating and although this happened in AZ, UC trains med studens who go everywhere! Dismantle ableism now!

One thing that I notice is that some people think of accessibility as a chore that everybody forces them to do to satisfy a tiny minority of users with severe disabilities or rare conditions.

Nothing more far from truth tbh.

For the most part, accessibility is about making the service/product better for everyone and not excluding people with specific needs.

It's saddening how many things on the web and even in public infrastructure are severely lacking when it comes to that…
