Having to depend on my mobile phone for all my Internet actually put things in perspective.

It means no Netflix. No Alexa. No downloading 80GB video games off Steam.

I get it, first world problem. But also, it’s made me realize how important it is that I have books, CDs, DVDs, and cartridges. Or just data stored locally on my hard drive.

I don’t want to live in a world where everything is streamed and we own nothing.

I went through the long process of encoding all my CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray onto a NAS. So I still have my owned copies of everything, but still with the convenience of streaming.

As a Major League Rugby who is also a hockey fan, the PWHL is off to a great start with the broadcast quality and accessibility. And the attendance in the games I've watched has been fantastic for a league in its first month of play!

The "if buying doesn't mean owning, piracy isn't stealing" take drives me nuts.

IP licensing is, has been and always will be gross, but you can't just use your misunderstanding of what you get with your purchase to link those two completely disparate ideas together. Yes, you own the paper that book is printed on, the plastic that DVD is made from or that MP4 file, but you do not "own" the contents of those things.

You can say that IP licensing shouldn't be a thing, or that all information should be free, whatever, but you can't just decide for yourself the terms of a purchase.
