I’m just gonna say it — this “Genocide Joe” thing is the dumbest fucking liberal shit I have seen in years.

Joe Biden can do more to try to rein in Israel, but Biden doesn’t run Israel. He isn’t CIC for IDF. He isn’t deciding what hospital to bomb. He isn’t deciding what border crossings to close.

You know who is pushing the Genocide Joe narrative? The fucking Russians and the Israelis. Why is that? Well, it’s an election year, and Trump is a hard right, pro-Israel puppet.

bencourtice,
@bencourtice@aus.social avatar

@mcnado I'm sure Trump will be worse. But Biden could actually stop Israel. Arms sales, monetary aid etc. It would probably even make him more popular. But he won't because Israel is a strategic US military asset for dominating the region. So I think the epithet is fair. Maybe less useful inside the US, during an election year. But building a movement against US imperialism will be more productive than building a movement against Trump, narrowly.

    @bencourtice@aus.social avatar

    @jpm I quite like a (tree-ripened) avocado - cut in half, eat with a spoon. If its properly ripened, the flavour is mild and subtle but excellent. Fuerte variety is my favourite. Supermarket bought avocados rarely match up - usually Hass variety, picked too early and stored too long.

    flawed, to Palestine

    What would you call a society this genocidal whose blood thirst is still at this, after massacring 30,000 Palestinians & still continue to massacre them?

    Most protests we hear about removing Nethanyahu are largely about internal power struggle, but not against genocide itself.

    As death toll is expected to reach 20 000, a couple if salient points need to be made.

    1. Yes, it was that delivered the catastrophic storm
    2. We can be pretty sure that the US/ destruction of the legitimate, stable government of Libya in 2011 played a large role in the dams that burst having missed maintenance for 20 years

    Climate change and imperialism. Two things we have to stop.

    @decryption yeah I am just near there too. Salad rolls with ham, corn beef, salami etc are excellent, made fresh on the day, plenty of salad. Chicken not so good, probably it's out of a can. Maybe the toasties aren't amazing but reasonably good. Don't bother if you're vegetarian though!

    This is on the north-western outskirts of Melbourne. I don't know what project it is responding to or the arguments behind it, but anti-solar farm campains are mostly either suffering from terminal NIMBYism or ideologically driven. Often both.
