Here’s to a very weary week day made fun with some Indian snacks! It is called ‘sev puri’, kinda like a cracker with tomatoes+onion+green chilies+coriander, topped with green and red chutneys and sev of course! Yummm 😋

We are going to be taking a trip to Austin, Texas for the first time this coming weekend. We would love recommendations for any thing we must see or do. We love nature and culture.

Do you have any recommendations for good cafés or restaurants? We are both vegetarians.

Thank you so much - we are looking forward to visiting soon!

Boost appreciated and suggestions doubly appreciated!

A few days after arriving, we took a trip to Khan Market. Khan Market in Central Delhi is a tiny area of boutique shops, restaurants, and bars. It is one of a handful of places that you'll see a lot of expats in Delhi. It is considered India's most expensive retail market (in terms of real estate cost). We sometimes feel a little silly but we have many, many fond memories of Khan and we had to go. A few highlights from the visit:

Ragamala! An all-night festival of Hindustani and Carnatic Indian classical music held at the Chicago Cultural Center. We only stayed for one session but we got to see Gaurav Mazumdar on sitar and Amit Kavthekar on tabla. They were students of the great Ravi Shankar and Zakir Husain respectively.

For @mitch_deadberg - we wanted to show you how we make South Indian Filter Coffee! This coffee (a 80:20 mixture of coffee / chicory) is made with a metal filter. This filter makes enough for about 2 times but can be found in bigger sizes. You put about 2-4 tbsp of coffee depending on how strong you want it. You place the metal plunger on top, pour the water and then let the decoction brew. It usually takes about a half hour.

We wanted to make something good tonight so we made Gatte Ki Subzi together ❤️

A Rajasthani dish made of besan dumplings in yogurt sauce, it is one of our favorite dishes.

We are thinking about doing something more elaborate like this every Thursday evening as a way to start the weekend a bit early (since we both have WFH on Fridays 😊).

And now, some snacks and street foods in Jaipur! The first place we went to was Rawat Misthan Bhandar for Piyaz Kachori and Chili Pakora. It was raining lightly when we arrived and we wanted something a bit lighter. The place was packed with lots of people buying sweets and modaks for Ganesha Chaturthi. @seanbala is not the biggest fan of kachori but even he liked them.

Looking for advice from people who use both and - how do you use the two? Are they completely separate for you? Or do you use one to promote the other? Do you post one type of content on each? We can see the strengths and weakness of both platforms and have been kind of puzzled about how we want them each to be. Any thoughts / advice / best practices from the wider would be really appreciated! Thanks!

A few days ago, we took a trip to Chandni Chowk in Old . Right across from Red Fort is Lal Mandir, a Temple from the 17th century. The inside is gorgeous but what makes it so special is that it hosts the Charity Hospital. This facility takes injured from all over the city, nurses them back to health, and releases them. It is a true embodiment of (), the essential virtue of .

And for the rest of Thanksgiving, we made two dishes. The first is an old favorite of ours - our own variation on Irani Vegetarian Berry Pulao. It is mostly a recipe from Madhur Jaffrey's "Vegetarian India" with some root vegetables added. We did this last year and it was mind-blowingly good!

You can find the recipe here: https://thehappyfoodie.co.uk/recipes/berry-pilaf-berry-pulav/

Needed a break yesterday so we went "Begyle Brewing" near the Irving Park Brown Line. Chicago has a great craft beer scene and @seanbala is following the "Chicago Brew Pass" from "Choose Chicago" - this is our third one! We got some excellent Begyle Blonde Ale (according to @dohappybelove it has hints of rose and honey). The atmosphere was really relaxed and cozy.

For our very first visit to , we made our way to Connaught Place (AKA CP), the social hub of Delhi. One of our favorite shops in the entire world is "Indian Coffee House." Just off the outer ring of CP, Indian Coffee House is in a run down fabric market. It doesn't look like much but the coffee is fantastic. It has a really laid back air where people read and talk for hours and under lazy fans.

Went for a nice walk today at the river walk next to the northern branch of the Chicago River. This was probably the first good summer-ish day we had so we wanted to get out early. So lucky that we live so close to such a beautiful spot. What is amazing is that this greenery is a relatively recent effort to restore the ecological health of the Chicago River.

We went to AMA Cafe in Majnuka Tila on Monday to celebrate @seanbala's birthday. We actually went the day before with @dohappybelove's mother and liked it so much, we decided to go back. When we first visited, we thought it was very small. Turned out that what we saw was only about about 20% of the whole cafe on three floors! Good food and a quick game of "The Fox in the Forest"

Watched “Love at First Sight” on Netflix tonight. Very simple and sweet - a nice cozy date movie for a cold Friday night 🤗

Made us reflect a bit on when we first met. This is probably the earliest photo we have of us from almost 10 years ago. Our boss took it before we had told anyone we were dating. Maybe she had a hunch? ❤️❤️❤️

Finally got around to making the Paneer last night. Decided to make Paneer Khurchan. One of our favorite restaurants in Chicago (“Essence of India” in Lincoln Square) does it really well and we were craving it. It is not a dish you often see on a menu here in the US.

@seanbala saw the butterfly on the way to work. @dohappybelove saw the GIANT snake in Millennium Park on her lunch break.

It is a place we have been wanting to go to for a while after someone told us it some of the best South Indian in . We got dosas and finished the day with a South Indian Filter Coffee.
