I’m a writer, but don’t expect deep, personal shit. I’m a sysadmin who doesn’t like nerds, they’re every bit as willing to be the most vicious and petty of bullies as the people they claim they’re so very different from.

But as individuals, they’re all right.

A lefty who hunts, so not an NRA fan. Done martial arts for years, not one of the MMA clowns.

If I say “free software” I ONLY am speaking of the price.

Louisiana legislature approves bill classifying abortion pills as controlled dangerous substances & the craziest thing about this is the GOP Rep who sponsored the bill did so b/c his ex-brother-in-law slipped abortion pills to his sister (in TX) w/o her knowledge—& wants to ensure it never happens again.

So—because one conservative extremist husband abused his wife—all women have to suffer?😐

This absurd bill will kill women, all thanks to the party of small Govt & personal responsibility. smh.

That popular leftist account with a Picrew avatar of a red-headed woman is saying egregiously incorrect things for likes and retoots again.

This time it’s “Joe Biden obviously has no plans to tax the rich” when his proposed presidential budget included raising taxes on the very rich, and more significantly, the IRS is aggressively going after rich tax cheats more aggressively than they have since…well, since I can remember.

Hey it’s that time again.

The contention that using high-filtration masks to prevent transmission of respiratory disease is “unscientific” and “lacking evidence” when we have reams of aerosol and transmission studies is a display of either unawareness/scientific illiteracy (super fixable! non-shameful!) or of an intentional disregard of the evidence for emotional or ideological reasons (common but troubling).

@StillIRise1963 There was a reasonable suspicion that approximately 1 in 1,000 Caucasian men were thought to be immune to HIV in the mid 90s, because of a specific common mutation.

You would not believe how many just assumed they were that 0.1%, without any basis at all.

Trump said that he's "looking at" policies that would restrict birth control access.

He of course later backtracked, but look at his record.

He made it easier for employers to remove birth control coverage from insurance plans.

His Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

That Microsoft considered protecting DRM content before protecting users in their new keylogger really shouldn’t be shocking, but somehow was. Classic capitalism.

RobW,
@RobW@iosdev.space avatar

In a move that will surprise no one, there has clearly been zero thought of the abusive partner scenario for this feature. Not only that, I can’t envisage a way the feature can be made safe for someone in an abusive/controlling relationship.

RobW,
@RobW@iosdev.space avatar

Another shocking thing for me in Microsoft’s statement is the phrase “when sites do not follow standard internet protocols like cloaking password entry”.
The ability to optionally show the content of a password field is an accessibility feature. Microsoft is saying here that if you have a cognitive impairment then it’s your own fault if you get your passwords stolen.

Some flawed "research" suggesting masks don't work circulated last week. This new STUDY tells the truth:

  1. and other respiratory pathogens have airborne transmission.
  2. Masks are, if correctly and consistently worn, effective in reducing transmission of respiratory diseases and show a dose-response effect.
  3. Respirators are significantly more effective than medical or cloth masks.
  4. Mask mandates are effective in reducing community transmission.
    Duh!

GOP campaigns staffed with young operatives who are into Nazi stuff is bad actually. Very charitable explanation of "just trolling" is still quite bad.

Do you know what they called people who weren't into Hitler's worst ideas but backed him because they liked how it bothered people they hate?

Nazis.

Why are things so expensive?

4 companies control 55% to 85% of the meat market.

4 airlines control 80% of air travel.

3 companies control 92% of the soda market.

3 companies control 73% of the cereal market.

Why don't I hear about it?

🔥Because
6 companies control 90% of the news.
