These dudes are saying they can't believe women would choose the bear, and then threaten Assault and Violence on women for choosing said bear.

@RickiTarr
A bear will never say, "Anytime you want to end this I'm fine with it. We can just be friends.", then harass me for the greater part of five years, recruit several of his bear buddies to join in stalking my social media accounts after I've blocked him, have one of his pals create a humiliating image of me then post and retweet all over Twitter for three years, spread malicious gossip about me in professional circles while crying about how he got cancelled etc., etc.

Yes and no, there is a completely unrelated vine which is also called Moonflower. It's sold by seed dealers as such. Common names suck like that. That is, however, absolutely Datura in the op photo.

Don't be the dipshit who drinks raw milk. Don't give it to pets. It's sad that it needs to be said. Don't open mouth kiss any pangolins either.

There’s never a good time to drink raw milk. But now’s a really bad time as bird flu infects cows

I’ve had an amazing baklava and other middle eastern desserts week since I last lived in and hung out in Dubai / Syria / Turkey 15 years ago.

A friend made wonderful homemade baklava for iftar just before Eid, an old friend gave me a box of marzipan from Cemilzade (Istanbul), and I’ve been nibbling on the baklava and Turkish delight from Simurgh.

I almost never do dessert on this side of the world as I find stuff impossibly sweet over here, so it feels like a wonderful surprise

I never saw a cake recipe that called for corn syrup, and I collect cookbooks. Anyone who puts corn syrup in cake batter needs more than help in the kitchen.

How long until some dipshit drinks unpasteurized milk from an infected cow, and the virus makes the jump to humans?

Bird flu is spreading to cows

"The FDA has limited research on whether the flu can be transmitted through raw, unpasteurized milk or other dairy products that use raw milk, like cheese.

The agency recommends against buying and selling such products when cows show signs of illness even if the cheese will undergo the required 60-day aging process."

That didn't take long!
I'm sure it's fine. The authorities say it's fine. My life has become a seemingly endless parade of severe respiratory infections since last May, but hey, it's fine. I'm useless to capitalism and thus expendable. No worries.
Masking is uncool. Masking is political virtue signaling. Masking is frowned upon in the workplace. Just spew germs everywhere. It's perfectly fine.

So I was watching one of Trump's lawyers outside the courtroom in NYC today, where they said something like "in 33 years of practicing law that's the best testimony a client has ever given". And I'm thinking to myself this isn't a stupid person saying this, but it sure reminds me of something ... something ... and ...

I realized what it is.

In the original "The Twilight Zone" episode "It's a Good Life" (1963), Billy Mumy plays a little boy who is described by Serling as a monster, who can kill anybody, create horrors of all kinds, simply with his mind.

And the adults all live in abject fear of being turned into something horrible and being killed and being "buried in the cornfield."

"It's good that you killed that, Anthony!"

"That's a really fine two-headed gopher you made there Anthony!"

They all said wonderful things about him, for fear of his retribution if they didn't.

One of the most famous of all Twilight Zone episodes. And there it was, in front of a NYC courtroom today. No closing narration by Rod Serling required.

dulcedemon,
@dulcedemon@beekeeping.ninja avatar

@lauren I think of that episode every time I meet a coddled monster, and I've met more than a few. Everyone around them tip-toes and kisses ass so they won't become the next target.

Reminder about Mastodon "private" messages. Aside from not being end-end-encrypted (and so visible to instance administrators), they CC anyone @-mentioned ANYWHERE in the body of the message (not just those listed at the start).

They are now called "private mentions" rather than "private messages", but if you don't fully understand the semantics, this behavior may be unexpected and/or cause unpleasant side effects.

dulcedemon,
@dulcedemon@beekeeping.ninja avatar

@inquiline It makes complaining about harassment from specific accounts fraught with peril. I wonder though if you block the problematic person prior to complaining or suggesting to the mods that they should be banned from the instance --Are they still notified?
How it works is so unclear.
