If I were in a timed cooking competition, I'd use up at least 75% of the time washing my hands every time I touched something.

fool,

@Alice wouldn't it be easier to remember what not to touch...?

Does anyone have experience growing mushrooms at home? Found some growing kit from the locals and unsure how well they yield.

More importantly, how difficult to maintain if renting a small flat.

Can I just say that Homer Hickman is a gatekeeping fuck, and he can suck my dick and balls?

Imagine taking someone's dream job over a curse.

fool,

@RickiTarr can't speak for every corporation but government departments often have a dedicated team monitoring anyone who mentions their name. This is not only to protect public images but more often crisis prevention and control (vigilante or terrorist attack).

In this case it's a portrayal of an employee of NASA being a potty mouth in public spaces.

Usually it's clearly stated in code of conduct. They don't care what you do in private life as long as you don't mention where you work.

Dominion Energy, which supplies power to N Virginia (highest concentration of datacenters in US), is now saying no new datacenters b/c the grid cannot support their power needs.

IMO it's irresponsible to have these hyperscaler aspirant convos w/o frontloading climate impact.

Okay, picking up from my video game post yesterday, I'm curious:

When you play video games, rpgs, ect, where you get to choose your character, do you tend to choose a character of the same sex, the opposite sex, non-binary, anthropomorphic, or a mysterious 4th option?

If you want to share screenshots of character builds I would enjoy that!

fool,

@RickiTarr
Usually the "default" settings. But to be fair I hadn't play games for a long time now but last I tried no matter how the players create their characters they barely make any difference to the plot.

Who has seen Poor Things? I've rarely seen so many completely opposite views on a movie. Some people say it's a celebration of feminism and neurodiversity, other says it's the opposite and it borders of pedophilia and some male fantasy of female liberation. Sex in a movie doesn't bother me at all, but I'm just curious what other people think.

fool,

@RickiTarr
I have a soft spot for technically well made films regardless of topic. So I'll be watching it but there's also a chance that I'd wish I hadn't. Like Sanctuary.

Now this, my friends, is a SERIOUS sushi roll. it’s an eho-maki eaten on Setsubun, consisting of seven ingredients for good fortune. I didn’t get the most traditional type, but opted for one packed with different seafood (middle one on the board in the supermarket) 👹

The giant sushi roll cut in half. More cuts had to be made to make it possible to eat.
The board at the supermarket showing five different types of eho-maki above a chilled basket full of them.

fool,

@elizabethtasker
Did you cut it in half? I thought you're supposed eat the whole thing in one go?

tbh I’m getting frustrated hearing “everyone does this” from engineers at high-growth tech companies when I talk about modern security / stuff.

but then the “mature corp” majority often haven’t even heard of some of the basic concepts/practices, let alone are trying to adopt them…

it’s why I often leverage the “two Americas” analogy to describe the state of cybersecurity today. These things really aren’t “obvious” to many and pretending they are widens the gap.

fool,

@shortridge
I'm sorry but I'm getting frustrated hearing "everyone does this" alone

    The final battle will not be between humans and AI, but the weary stragglers mounting one last desperate defence against the hordes of "small round cookers with a fan" cultists, chanting "you must buy an air fryer, it's changed my life" again and again as they inevitably overrun you.

    In today’s mini Japanese story (listened to for language practice), a woman with two children boards a ferry, along with a samurai. The kids demand candy, but there is only has one sweet 🍬.

    The kids are brats and each demands to be given the candy.

    The samurai wakes and draws his katana🗡️.

    Is the solution to decapitate a child? I thought so.

    So did the mother who hides the kids behind her.

    But samurai slices the candy in two, solving the issue, although with a disappointing lack of finality.

    fool,

    @elizabethtasker is the meaning of the story to be always carrying a katana perchance?

    The ad has already been ignored (and boosted, and responded with tone-deaf optimism); the rent, however, is demanding kindness by asking people not to report something clearly violating the rules.
