It's strange to me when I see people get upset about people doing good deeds, and posting it online.

"They're just doing it for attention!"

Yeah, so what? I'd much rather see people doing nice things for attention, than the people who do mean pranks or wasting food. A good deed is still good, even if it's done for the wrong reasons.

jhavok,
@jhavok@mastodon.social avatar

@RickiTarr Those are people who feel guilty for being shitty, and blame the people who are being good for how shitty they feel.

    It must be wild to be a student right now.

    School shootings? You’re on your own. Thoughts and prayers.

    Peaceful protest? That’s going too far. Send in the riot gear.

    That America feels empowered to intervene in one but not the other tells you everything you need to know.

    @Haste Cops won't do anything dangerous. That's why they loved cannabis prohibition.

    @jhavok@mastodon.social avatar

    @zdl @angiebaby It's terrible how the Democrats absolutely refuse to smash the state, and instead keep making it functional. No wonder you prefer the Republicans, they are smashing away at all the functional parts and eventually you'll get to romantically go to a death camp and be oppressed.

    jhavok,

    Your friends at Indivisible are here to remind you that it's not up to Democrats to save Republicans from their own chaos. If the GOP tries to remove Mike Johnson as Speaker, Democrats shouldn't get in their way. https://indivisible.org/resource/legislative-process-101-motion-vacate

    The US will provide another $1 billion in aid to Ukraine – Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin.

    This will include additional HIMARS ammunition, 155mm ammunition, air defense and armored vehicles.

    Also this year, F-16 aircraft with trained pilots will begin arriving in Ukraine.

    That self doubt talking to you in your head isn't you. It's all of the ways the world tries to knock you down, internalized.

    Quite your thoughts as often as you can. Center yourself. Find peace. It's only there we will find the space to know ourselves.

    jhavok,
    @jhavok@mastodon.social avatar

    @Mrfunkedude Self-doubt is how you know you aren't stupid. Listen to it, fact check it, use it to make sure you aren't wrong. If it's wrong, dump it, if it's right, correct yourself.

    Bold of old preening bourgeois authority figures to come out against students protesting war and genocide because there's such a great track record of people who advocate state violence to beat kids down and shut them up being cool, virtuous heroes remembered fondly for their courageous unnecessary oppression.

    jhavok,
    @jhavok@mastodon.social avatar

    @GrimmReality Why are you referring to people like that as liberals?

    jhavok,
    @jhavok@mastodon.social avatar

    @GrimmReality You mean like ACLU supporters?

    @GrimmReality center-right =/= liberal except to a MAGA or a tankie.

    jhavok,
    @jhavok@mastodon.social avatar

    @GrimmReality You just get worse. "Liberals does mean something different outside the US, but you are tarring US liberals (who would be called "labour" elsewhere) with that brush, and citing people who are not close to liberal. But I guess that's why old-school liberals have moved to "progressive."

    My brother and I were driving through this small decaying town called Barnett, Mo, and we passed this old mill that looked very old, and grown over. It was covered with cool old signage, and looked really interesting, but there were 5 older people sitting in front of it by a table, and a hand painted sign that says Toxic Club. So, we drive back around, because we had to know, so we pull in, and ask "What is the Toxic Club?", and they say they are just out there most days with coffee and donuts to make sure that people get something to eat, and drink and have someone to chat with. That doesn't sound toxic at all, it sounds lovely.

    @RickiTarr Blue highway road trip? Set your GPS to avoid highways for the best experience.

    jhavok,
    @jhavok@mastodon.social avatar

    @RickiTarr A month or so ago my wife and I skirted the western border of our state, staying as close as possible without crossing it for a few hours until we had to pee and headed back to civilization. Caught some cute little unpaved roads along the way.

    jhavok,
    @jhavok@mastodon.social avatar

    @Pineywoozle @RickiTarr That's where I picked up the term. I did a cross-country ride in '92 where I drew a line from point to point on my big map, then took whatever roads were closest. I made a list of all the junctions noting which highway to take at each one, and would consult it as I rode.

    jhavok,
    @jhavok@mastodon.social avatar

    @Pineywoozle @RickiTarr My wife and I did a drive from DC to Niagara Falls and back using an early GPS. We set it so it just pointed at Niagara and then took whatever road was closest to the arrow when we had a choice. We stumbled on the remnants of her mother's home town purely by accident, nothing but a post office, a general store and a huge equipment shed for the mine.
