In Sheffield Mills, #NovaScotia they host a festival known as the Eagle Watch. It is an opportunity to view the largest population of Bald Eagles east of the Rocky Mountains.

On this winter day, the Eagles were content to stay perched in the trees as the sunlight cast long shadows on the pristine snow. The raptors were silent, waiting and watching in the shadows. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/in-the-shadows-of-the-eagles-karen-cook.html #nature #Eagles #birds #blackandwhite

the tiny seaside community of Morden hugs the shores of the Bay of Fundy. I could hear the water running in Moody Brook, that cascades from the North Mountain, seemingly disappears into the rocky shoreline before being absorbed in the Bay of Fundy.

For each thorn..there is a rosebud.
For each twilight - a dawn.
For each trial - the strength to carry on.
For each storm cloud - a rainbow.
For each shadow - the sun.
For each parting - sweet memories when sorrow is done.

Words of encouragement, support, sympathy and remembrance from Ralph Waldo Emerson pair beautifully with a single rosebud https://fineartamerica.com/featured/for-each-thorn-there-is-a-rosebud-karen-cook.html?newartwork=true

Is there a sight (or a sound) more indicative of autumn and the approach of winter, than Canada Geese migrating south?

The sound of honking and gabbling grabbed my attention as I admired the rising sun of a September morning. I marveled as the flight flew across the sky, just above tree tops and in front of the sun.

my favorite summer guest is the Rose-Breasted Grosbeak! The male of the species is spectacular. His plumage is bold, especially the rose colored 'stain' on his chest.

And he is such a good parent! Tenderly feeding a sunflower seed to his young son, whose wings flutter with anticipation. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/a-fathers-tender-touch-karen-cook.html

Cooper's Hawks are skillful fliers that are certainly unwanted visitors to backyard feeders, as their rapid attacks mean certain death for a small bird. But their beauty fascinates me. This bird was seemingly unconcerned as it perched, look around and dried off giving me plenty of time to shoot this photo. Look at those wings!https://fineartamerica.com/featured/coopers-wings-karen-cook.html

The walls and sally port of Fort Anne National Historic Site in Annapolis Royal Nova Scotia. The trees are bare of leaves and there is a feeling of solitude in the first snow of the season https://fineartamerica.com/featured/winters-watch-karen-cook.html?newartwork=true

The colorful trappings of the lobster fishing industry in Peggy's Cove .

Wandering onto the wharf the colors were a feast for the eyes! Everywhere are the colorful necessities of life on the water...fishing gear such as buoys, ropes and the all important lobster cages, or traps are stacked everywhere, ready for lobster season https://fineartamerica.com/featured/ready-for-lobster-season-karen-cook.html

In an effort to ward off the bitter cold of a winter day in Nova Scotia, this gentle dove has ruffled her feathers and huddles in a pocket of snow as the snowflakes swirl through the air. . One of nature's tricks that allows these beautiful creatures to survive the cold. Her eyes are closed against the snow as she catches a moment's nap... https://fineartamerica.com/featured/all-by-myself-karen-cook.html

Distinctively marked with its 'tiger tail' colors, the Canadian Tiger Swallowtail butterfly is one of the most recognized butterflies in Canada.

I love the contrast of its distinctive yellow wings with their tell-tale tiger stripes against the purple flowers of the clover. Such a colorful summer image! https://fineartamerica.com/featured/canadian-tiger-swallowtail-karen-cook.html
