How did we get to a point where it's okay to have a feature that has this disclaimer

If you think CSS is some kind of "problem" that needs solving with frameworks, perhaps first consider that maybe the problem is that you don't know how to use it

For a while now I've been wanting to write about the inaccessibility of SaaS products and the issue of shipping prototypes to production. The launch of the Vercel v0 LLM for generating UI was the prompt (wink) that I needed. https://localghost.dev/blog/ai-and-the-trouble-with-inaccessible-saas/

I’ve got a fantastic product manager friend looking for his next role. Fully remote preferred, UK or +- a few hours GMT, east coast if flexible about working hours. Who’s hiring? I used to work with him at Monzo and he’s excellent. (He’d prefer no fintechs tho)

I've seen a few folks sharing a post about how Copilot leads to worse quality code. I think it's not that simple: I use it and I've had a lot of success with it, but the important thing is that the code I am writing with it is still my code, as I would write it. I just let it finish my "sentences".

As with any code generation tool - or indeed, with any snippet you find on StackOverflow or other website, or even in a book - it's really important to pay attention to what you're pasting in. (...)

After discussing game recommendations with friends last night and realising there were so many I wanted to recommend, I wrote a list of my favourite video games: https://localghost.dev/games

People like to shit on React, and with good reason. But sometimes it feels like people forget that a lot of us get paid to write React, whether we like it or not. When working on a massive React codebase it absolutely doesn’t make sense to migrate to a new framework unless you can justify the time, effort and expense. So all these posts/blogs I’ve seen that suggest that developers are somehow making mistakes or ignorant for still using React - a lot of us don’t have a choice.

I wrote a post about engineering progression in tech companies, and the different ways you might progress through roles and organisations.

As engineers it can be unclear where we’re heading, especially when we’re heads down writing code all the time. It can be hard to think even a few months ahead. What does an engineering career in a larger organisation look like? What even is a staff engineer? How long should you stay at the same company?

My friend used an AI song generator to generate a comedy country song about crabs, which was very entertaining, but the fact that this software exists makes me deeply sad because people have truly devalued the arts far beyond anything I could ever have imagined. In the same way as they are with images, people are going to use garbage AI generated music instead of paying actual musicians
