It turns out that the QAnon Shaman is one of the biggest promoters of and as an alternative to gender transitioning. And Jordan Peterson is another big promoter. I'm all for legalizing these substances, but if God (or Flying Spaghetti Monster) made you transgender, that should be between you and your doctor. And you need to consult your doctor before taking such substances, because of potential fatal chemical reactions with drugs you're already taking. https://www.assignedmedia.org/breaking-news/qanon-shaman-chloe-cole-laura-becker-promote-lsd

@RealJournalism how, how do they take something like psychedelics, that's known to broaden your world view, and use it to be more Nazis? Ugh.

Maybe it just makes some people more crazypants...

@itsmeholland@mastodon.social avatar

@alexisdyslexic @RealJournalism i mean I've been thinking a lot about what "spirituality" really is, including the spiritual feelings we get so easily with psychedelics. I read something recently suggesting that ketamine treatment patients may be being harmed by their doctors' discomfort with speaking with the patient about their more profound experiences with the drugs. Spiritual & other profound feelings need support, & there's a dearth of people giving any in except in bad faith.

kyle,

18 years ago this week I published an album called A Model Psychosis to coincide with the 100th birthday of its living subject, Swiss chemist , best known for his "problem child" .

Then 7 years later on the same date open culture prodigy and martyr was driven to suicide by the Obama administration.

Jan 11th will make history again this Thursday when a legal delegation from South Africa goes to The Hague to present the evidence of the Israeli government genociding the Palestinian people.

Anyway, that album isn't my best work.

SrRochardBunson,

What do you get when you combine a badass synth track, morse code, number stations & a vintage documentary about CIA research with LSD in MKUltra?

Listen to "Heirloom Numbers" by Ether Diver y ArtFED to see.

@SrRochardBunson The line between audio collage and song can be an interesting one to talk about, really.

Like, you can get into Negativland, who have done audio collages of varying levels of complexity for decades, some of which resemble songs.

Or maybe discuss Art Of Noise, which is a band who were one of the earliest to make music using digital sampling, and some of their music was made up of noise, like the sound of engines revving or whatever, played at different pitches. A collage of sound made into song.

This can be extended further into some of the experiments with recorded sound put into loops of various lengths and played back, or like what Steve Reich was doing early on. Very early minimalism is nearly indistinguishable from sound collage if you reduce it down to its bare essence.

Or, swinging back around, you have The Chemical Brothers, who create their own set of sounds, their "Battle Weapons" that they create albums from, collaging themselves as source material.

@SrRochardBunson So, this seems to be posted again. It gets taken down over and over because it's a piece about copyright infringement that makes its point entirely through copyright infringement. It's also the companion album to a book about how the band was sued for copyright infringement.

Anyway, it's long, but it's a bit of a masterpiece. I can't imagine what assembling something like this requires of the band that put this together. It's a bit of a trying listen, but I think it's worth it in the end.

Do you think normies know that it's declassified fact, with senate hearings and ABC specials, that the CIA dosed people with acid and did all sorts of horrible experiments on civilians? Even resulting in a death and coverup of a US government employee?

@SrRochardBunson I dosed myself with acid and did all sorts of horrible experiments on myself, a civilian. But it's not well known to normies.

I think most ppl are completely oblivious to this history!

I like documentaries a lot. I really liked this 6-part Errol Morris hybrid documentary on Frank Olsen, the CIA employee/biological warfare scientist that "died under mysterious circumstances in 1953".

I thought I knew this story, but this perspective, especially the deep interviews with Mr. Olsen's son, was revealing to me.
