Firing up #PolyPascal on my 40 year old #Enterprise64 for the first time in probably 35 years. Actually, I'm not sure if I ever go PolyPascal running on it, or it was just the previous version, Compas Pascal. Glad to see an old #Dnaisg friend from the #CPM era again though. It's been too long.

@amoroso So, PolyData - a Danish company - initially wrote and published Compas Pascal, AFAIK the first commercially available version of Pascal. This was eventually sold off to Borland and renamed to Turbo Pascal. Somewhere in between, Compas Pascal changed name to PolyPascal to avoid clashing with someone else's product. It was first released as PolyPascal/80 for CP/M then PolyPascal/86 for CP/M and MS-DOS. Anders Hejlsberg, chief architect behind Delphi and Typescript played a major role in the development of Pascal, although I'm not sure exactly as to what extent. I have often credited him with being the inventor but I'm not 100% sure. I grew up on PolyPascal and later moved to Turbo C++ - good times.

I left my 3D printer unattended for a couple of hours, and it completely screwed up and the extruder got completely encapsulated in a 1cm thick glob of PLA filament. This is what it looked like after half an hour of delicate unglobbing. Another half hour of cleaning and reassembling and it was working fine again. Not sure what went wrong - PETG builds are nearly always perfect, but I'm building something that should be a little more flexible, hence the PLA.

So, now that is throwing in the towel on the version of the CPU, what are we going to do when our processor fries itself? Is there a compatible plug-in alternative, or perhaps something as simple as an adapter for another form factor?

Asking for a friend who has accumulated way too many Z80 based machines. Ahemn.. ;-)

Some 40 years ago, my dad took a leap and decided to import and resell the microcomputer from the United Kingdom. This was indeed the era of the "micro", and lots of options were available like the , , , and numerous others. Unfortunately competition was hard, and the Enterprise was delayed for almost a year. Eventually they went bankrupt and all stock was exported to Eastern Europe where it got a second life among some very hard core enthusiasts. Very few were actually sold in Denmark - I would assume less then a hundred - and today I managed to get my hands on the third one in my collection. Inherited from his dad, the seller had no idea what to use this for. It's very much a special item, and very far from the mainstream like the Commodore 64. It is nevertheless a fascinating machine, sporting a with support for up to 2MB RAM. The operating system also contained IS-BASIC, and was a bliss to work with.

Seller's image of the Enterprise 64: Visible is original box holding the system. I haven't had the original box for probably 30 years.

This morning we're seeing a bunch of "Spam Report" toots from an account on miniwa.moe. They're tagging a bunch of unrelated admins, including me, and providing links to further information that return 404s. Not sure exactly what the purpose of these toots were, but it was poorly executed, and the account has been suspended on our end until we hear from the miniwa.moe admins.

Many incredible people support Ukraine.

They help the wounded Defenders, affected families and children, animals.

We are all incredibly grateful for their kindness and humanity!

Transport is one of the most important means of saving lives in Ukraine.

Evacuation and medical vehicles are often destroyed by enemy fire or mines.

I'm teaching my kids the values of the traditional point-and-click adventures, and we're currently about to finish 2. Other classics like and are on the to-to list, but I'm also looking for something new - and that's when I - somewhat late, admittedly, given that it was release some six years ago - discovered that the legendary @grumpygamer made
which looks absolutely bloody amazing. And it's on sale on both Steam and GOG! This is going to be awesome! :-)

And I only just found this. I didn’t realise the Flan name actually made it into production.

This means it’s a revision 4 board, from the first production run. The run with bugs in the video chip and ROM.

@bread80 Could you elaborate? I've got a couple of Enterprise marked "ISSUE 4" on the board. I also have one with S/N 000828, so I'd assume the ISSUE number is even lower on that one 😕

Meet #Mogens the #rabbit. Usually he's a happy outdoor rabbit living in his cozy rabbit house with #Elvis, also of rabbit persuasion. Thursday we found him cold and weak in the house. We took him in, cleaned him up a bit and housed him in the coldest room in the house, on account of his winter fur. His breathing was bad, and it sounded like he had the flu. Friday was marginally better, so we took him to the vet. The prognosis wasn't good, but he got a couple of injections and we were told to continue meds twice a day and watch him closely. Today we have established excellent emergency facilities for him, and he does appear to be doing significantly better. Breathing is much better and now also through the nose and he is slowly regaining the weight he has apparently lost over the last week or so. We're cautiously optimistic. 🙂

I'm a geek and a security enthusiast. Also, I'm a cheapskate. Last time our family was out and about, the hotel offered paid wifi, priced per device and I wasn't having it. Cue the TP-Link RE650 - a "range extender" capable of running the router firmware. Performance and stability was crap when doing wifi-to-wifi bridging and the device didn't have enough juice to run , which is the way I connect safely to my home rack. A couple of weeks ago, I discovered the AX () travel router from GL-iNet. Same concept, but half the size, a lot more juice, USB-C powered, SD slot and USB connector and so far rock solid and powerful enough to run WireGuard with cycles to spare. I'm a very happy customer! 🙂

What do you think Linux provides, that Windows can not, to the average user aside from a smaller footprint on their hard drive?

I await your response.

@Mrfunkedude No spam sanctioned by the operating system. More stability. Easier access to the tools I need for work/hobby. Free. A myriad of different distros to choose between. Good options for system security and encryption.
