Before giving up for today, I took apart the sauna and shifted a bunch of rocks to expose the crack in the hot water pipe. It's going to be a pain in the ass to weld there, the crack is in a tight corner and of course on the bottom.
Access is limited, there's a wall on two sides and I'll have to bend myself in there. Maybe I can remove the wire mesh for better access, but probably I'll have to take out all the rocks then. Argh.
My friend's #cedar barrel #sauna that I used last night. Fired it up again, for a pre-dawn spa session. I'm following sauna time up with lying down on an electric shiatsu massage therapy body mat. They'll help me body release tension & feel better.
My loose tooth infection subsided a lot & it will come out pretty easy with dentist appointment tomorrow👍
@Fury Wish I could stay at my friend's home sanctuary longer. Her place is very peaceful, surrounded by forest & really good for mind, body & spirit healing time.

@tekkie Personal hygiene kept you alive. When there’s very little people and half of the year you’re crowded inside, every thing counts. Saunas were a place of healing. And they were used for ridding foodstuffs of bugs, too.

We had our #sauna renovated and the outcome is gorgeous. The previous one was poorly built and leaked moisture. Now it's properly sealed and has this dark wood almost smoke sauna-esque aesthetic.
We still need to insert the stones into the stove, clean up the wood dust, and oil treat the seats. Can't wait to heat it up proper!
We saved money by not redoing the tile floor, which was in good shape anyway. Without that it was surprisingly affordable. We'll probably paint the tile floor later to make it look new. :)
@KissAnne That’s neat! But I have so many questions. Is it temporary (as in, walls will melt from the heat) — sort of an exercise in impermanence? Or is it so cold outside that the walls don’t melt and it’ll be there all season? (Here in southeast US, I’ve worn a sweater outside and been comfy.)
Rare post providing a glimpse of my work life. I am a self employed self taught carpenter specializing in building traditional healing spaces for community - Finnish style #sauna. On the #solstice no less, I installed these benches in a neighbor's #DIY backyard project which due to injury they had needed to pay a guy to finish.
I'm really proud of this assembly - it had to be built in segments but it worked out great. Top bench can be removed so the bottom can be used as a guest bed.

Oavsett vilket så är det någon sorts bastuextremism. Själv badar jag bara 104 gånger per år. På ett ungefär alltså.
I have a #sauna in my block of flats. Today is a traditional sauna day in #Finland so I also heated my sauna. I don't heat it often these days. I enjoyed bathing in the sauna very much #today. Sauna heals everything. In Finland we say that "If sauna, tar and booze don't help, then you're doomed to death." 🙄🤔 #suomimastodon
@thepoliticalcat 🙂🙂 When it's hot in Finland people who have summer cottages heat saunas by the lake. And jump in refreshing water after bathing in the sauna.
@KissAnne ...I used to love the saunas anywhere could find one ..till after a few years the heat started affecting my body and would pass out..so no longer good for me...

What a feeling. I heated a garden sauna for me. It's a traditional #Finnish#sauna that has a wood stove. To get warm water you have to mix cold water with boiling water you get from a boiler, that is also heated with a wood stove. I hope I was able to explain this in English. #culture#summertime#holiday#today
