I have never made it to and its alternative is still underdeveloped. Esp. in terms of user interaction and books catalogue.

Any suggestions? I'm after tracking, occasional short review and recommendation from other users.

I can recommend , which I've been using for 18 years. Very good for cataloguing and tagging. Can add reviews or not as you wish and has a recommendation feature.

@janbartosik @bookstodon I've been trying out Storygraph but I'm not convinced by the cataloguing / tagging options as that's what I desperately need as opposed to user recommendations etc. I'm currently trying out collectorz.com / Book Connect (not free). No "community" as such but the tracking side is reasonably flexible.

eyrea,

@janbartosik +1 for The Storygraph. I especially like how their review feature is "guided" -- they ask some basic questions about plot and character before you write a freeform review, which allows readers of your review to check for basic story traits. It makes for better reviews without really any more effort by the reviewer.

I fell in love with The Story Graph recently:

@janbartosik @bookstodon The Storygraph is what I use. Has everything Goodreads has and more.

@janbartosik No good options AFAIK. I still keep using Goodreads, but it's getting worse and worse. Bookwyrm is not there yet and then the network effect... All other options I tried didn't cover Czech titles at all.

@janbartosik @bookstodon There is Story Graph, although I'm not sure if it has improved the catalogue. I stopped using them and Goodreads sometime last year.

@templetongate @janbartosik @bookstodon IMO their catalogue has improved and it's really easy to add books yourself now. They also recently added a barcode scanner for book finding and adding.

@janbartosik @bookstodon totally recommend Storygraph. I've been using it for years now - I pay for premium because I want to support but the free features are great.
It's less good at the community side but they do awesome recommendations, stats and awesome filter options on your TBR list.
