Burnout in the FOSS community is real, and I'm glad that it's something that is being talked about more in blogs and conferences. There is a different flavor of burnout and emotional toll when you are sacrificing for a cause you believe in (especially in FOSS where people are often working for free or at below market rate). Working for a cause you believe in brings the highest highs when things are going well, but the lowest lows when they go badly.

Neben diesem Blödsinn, dass bei #FOSS Projekten Community und Support über #Discord geführt werden, ist der andere scheiß #Reddit. Wie ich diese scheiße Hasse. Wir haben als FOSS-Community genug tools entwickelt, die ohne diesen Blödsinn auskommen und rennen dann trotzdem zu diesen Proprietär-Affen....
@kaffeeringe@saiki Da ist die Dezentralität Vorteil und Nachteil zugleich. Menschen möchten eine Anlaufstelle für alles haben und nicht immer neue Plattformen suchen, sich ggf. anmelden und so mehr Overhead schaffen. Kenne ich von mir selbst.
Niestety ale poległem, przy całej sympatii do systemów GNU/Linux póki co Windows, po kilku ulepszeniach i wywaleniu bloatware'u jak dla mnie jest lepszy, albowiem za systemem stoją aplikacje a w moim wypadku jedna - Scrivener.
Nie ma aktualnej wersji na GNU/Linux, opcja przez Wine jest bardzo niestabilna i problematyczna.
Podobnie, niestety, na smartfonie - brakuje mi Android Auto, nawet kupiłem uchwyt na smartfona, ale jednak Android Auto jest niesamowicie wygodne.
I tu i tam w większości korzystam z programów open source, i tu i tam dzięki fajnym skryptom wywaliłem szpiony (prawie) i po prostu przyjemnie się działa.
Czekam aż na GNU/Linux pojawi się Scrivener i na Lineage/CalyxOS Android Auto. Wtedy na pewno przejdę, Debian z KDE jest niesamowicie szybki, Calyx podobnie.
It hurts to see the last few generalist FOSS conferences that had mask requirements cede that ground.
It's one thing to drop a requirement based on evidence, such as data showing that indoor air quality meets high standards. But, as far as I'm aware, that's not what's happening here.

(And, clearly, spend more time at Python events. There are so many with great Health and Safety policies!)

A sold out#PyConUS 2024 proved that even large events can prioritize safety and inclusion for caregivers and immunocompromised people by way of requiring masks, and gathering venue data to calibrate their policy from year-to-year. Smaller events have proven it's possible at that scale, too.
Now is the time for at least one other large event to step up.
But I see why you'd be asking based on that video! That being the opening, I imagine some folks hadn't yet gotten the memo; typically those details are recapped in opening remarks.
I might have to rethink my stance on "#GPL all the way".
Due to the highly scriptable nature of the #FOSS static site generator that I'm building, site code (or even entire sites) may fall under copyleft, and that's not what I want. I've had a look at the #LGPL, but for my use case, it still sounds too strict. I'm also not keen on writing my own license exception, and I doubt it'd keep enough protections to make GPLing worthwhile in the first place. So I'm afraid #Apache 2.0 is my best bet?
@Merula It might be a different thing for when the config script isn't published but just the result of building the site, but I'm not sure about that. (And I don't want to discourage people from publishing their site sources 😄)

It actually sounds like, despite the title, they are arguing for a static site generator like yours, competing against proprietary software, to use the LGPL.

Dlaczego więc ludzie kupują telefony i komputery marki na A i w ramach "bezpieczeństwa" i "możliwości" są zobowiązani do korzystania tylko i wyłącznie z ich sklepu lub mają utrudnione korzystanie z akcesoriów które nie są produktem tej marki lub nie są przez nią "podpisane"?
Dlatego od ponad roku jabłka mam wyłącznie w lodówce a nie na biurku 😀
