"He comes at the invitation of Congress. Republicans are in control of the House. There's no reason that we need to invite him" -- Rep. Scott Perry wants House Republicans to cancel #SOTU
Situational awarenesss: this continues GOP delegitimation of Biden, our actual President, so that the mass deception that Trump is the real head of state can be upheld. And the less Biden is seen the more any coup plans (coup broadly defined) can gather momentum.

The statute of limitations doesn't run out for scott perry until january 2026, and the FBI already seized and copied his phone. Wonder if he's feeling a little hot and sweaty under the collar.
@GottaLaff don't want to hear about the booming economy, be confronted for their lack of action on the border or Ukraine/Israel?
I'd be afraid if I were them. Particularly, as seems likely, if they force a government shutdown in an election year.
@GottaLaff
Biden, being the astute politician he is, would simply send the constitutionally required information to Congress and deliver the speech from the White House, or perhaps some famous site like the steps of the Capitol.
I'm pretty sure that Schumer would invite the President to deliver it instead, and I'm pretty sure that the President will use the House failure against the house GOP.
@GottaLaff Sounds like Perry is a'skeered that Biden will rope-a-dope (emphasis on 'dope') the GOP caucus into another No-Cuts-to-Medicare Moment like he did in the last SOTU.
that's no surprise... they have flagrantly abused every possible condition of the house.... this will absolutely make the GOP look far worse in the eyes of the nation....
Every president has except... The two who did not—William Henry Harrison and James Garfield—died before they got the chance.
Trump was disinvited one time due to a government shut-down... he then held his speech 2/5/19
President Biden (I ❤️ writing that) easily handed Republicans their ass last SOTU, calling them out on their fever dream to axe Social Security & Medicare and making them back down on liveTV. It’s kinda surprising that Speaker Mike took the risk of a televised SOTU this year …
Ps—I smell a trump behind Tim Scott calling for Biden to be disinvited to try & take oxygen away from Joe. Hoping it backfires and heightens interest in the SOTU, so Dark Brandon (er, Biden) has a larger audience than ever.
Wondering if canceling the invite fails, will trump claim the rebuttal spot for his own? That would be wild, no?
@GottaLaff So, Biden gives a SOTU speech on live TV to an audience of people affected by their stupidity. Networks would be under no obligation to carry the GOP counterpoint.
@GottaLaff Just when I think I could not hate these bastages more. I think Biden should forgo the SOTU. Just submit a written report. Because you know the Republicans are going to show their whole asses during his address.
@GottaLaff Three weeks ago, I told my husband to just watch the GOP House try to cancel the SOTU or, at the very least, uninvite Biden. They are so transparent and petty.
@GottaLaff “The house GOP chose not to invite me to give the SOTU from ‘their’ house. So I’ve decided to speak to you today from this building: Formerly NYs Trump Tower and recently seized as part of civil asset forfeiture proceedings.
I thought, in a nation built by immigrants, it’s only fitting to speak to you from here. You see, NY has donated this building to the state, which will begin renovations to create the greatest immigrant housing project in the country.”
@darthstar@Atticus1956@GottaLaff He can deliver the SOTU from his bathtub if he wanted. What would cancelling the speech at congress get them. It gets Biden a hand picked audience. He doesn’t need to invite Republicans.
Well, hmmm. My point is: with all the negative press against Biden, I believe it would bode extremely unfavorably if he didn't observe precedent and allowed the Maga Republicans to deter his duties. He doesn't need to be portrayed more weakly as he already is. He should fight for his right to face the nation.
Yes, I don't know how I did that, but I replied with most of the originally intended toot.
I am totally against Biden not giving the SOTU in the House as it is actually the only time representatives of all branches are present (except 1), and that's an extremely important sign of our democracy. To abandon it would be a sure sign of a failing union. My "old school" character residue.
