These #officers deserve commendations, promotions, and raises for their selfless acts.
On this day in 1955, Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her bus seat to a white man.
Of the event she noted:
“People always say that I didn’t give up my seat because I was tired, but that isn’t true. I was not tired physically, or no more tired than I usually was at the end of a working day…no, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in.”
Judges again reject Alabama’s congressional lines, will draw new districts to increase Black voting power.
AP reports: "The three-judge panel wrote that they are 'deeply troubled' that Alabama lawmakers flouted their instruction to create a second majority-Black district or something close to it. A designated special master will be tapped to draw new districts for the state, the judges ordered."

A federal court has approved Alabama’s new congressional map that creates a second majority-Black district. The decision ends a legal battle, including a Supreme Court ruling, over whether the state was diluting the political power of Black voters in violation of the Voting Rights Act. The ruling could influence decisions over map challenges in Florida, Louisiana and Georgia.
