Still learning…but this is me. Love physical exercise like yoga 🧘🏼‍♀️ pilates or balance 🤸🏼‍♂️plus a bit of pump 🏋🏼‍♀️ but also happy to just walk 🚶‍♀️ I believe we’ve lost our way when it comes to food & am a proponent of J.E.R.F. Just Eat Real Food & very little processed or packaged food. Love my garden, especially when I grow my own produce. Not very good at it, but that’s ok. At 71 life is pretty damned good, healthier than I was 30yrs ago & intend to stay that way for as long as I can. Wiradjuri country.

Some cool street art I saw in Hong Kong in 2017. It's quite small, just above the steps.

I’ll have these down the side of my unit so I don’t hear the dogs barking & one for the back bedroom to cut the road noise out.
Actually - I’ll have curtains out of this for every room in the house - I love the sound of silence.

Minority government next time around I think.
Although honestly a minority Lib government isn’t at all appealing as they’ll have the Nats on side every step. Minority Labor would be best.

Labor need another bloody big scare imo. Maybe 🤞🏼if they get one we’d actually have an effective government not just after the next election, but the one after that.
Dutton & the Libs can get on the scrap heap. They don’t work for anyone but themselves & their cronies now.

I don't usually do food posts, but I've never tried cooking feta before and it was fantastic.

We had cherry tomato and feta bake, flavoured with garlic, shallot, and fresh basil and served with falafel.

Cheers everyone. Having a glass of wine tonight, maybe two. My X-ray results are really good, I don’t need a knee op after all. There is more damage & deterioration but my doctor doesn’t think an op is needed. So I’ll just keep working away, doing what I do to stay fit & healthy - I am a bit bemused though as it does beg the question - why in 2020 just before Covid hit was I told I needed a knee replacement, not by my doctor but by an ortho surgeon! What has changed in those four years 🤷🏼‍♀️. Anyway - maybe I should be thankful to Covid because I’d have had the op by now as I was on the list. #Healing #Exercise #Health

We don’t need the sweet stuff in our diet, sugar isn’t a food, it isn’t even a nutrient & artificial sweeteners are just that - artificial. We don’t need it - but people eat & drink so much of it that they crave it, they’re addicted, just like a drug. The only people that benefit are those that make it all, not the consumer.
Just Eat Real Food! You can get all the sweetness the body needs from real food. Break the addiction!

Hmm shall I go tram+bus or train+bus to get to Melbourne Airport the cheap-arse way tomorrow morning?

Less walking to the tram stop, but longer in the cold open air waiting for the connecting bus.

By train, I have to walk to Melbourne Central but can wait indoors at Broadmeadows Station for the connecting bus.

Train+bus - a lot more comfortable than the tram & probably not as crowded. You can even grab a coffee at Melbourne central if you wanted.

Interesting. Where I grew up in country WA we had very little in the way of fast food outlets or corner shops, so luckily my intake of this stuff was limited. As an adult who didn't eat it as a kid, it's hard to imagine yearning for McDonald's. Weirdly soft, fairly flavourless pap.

What do people read?

I was an avid reader of fiction when I was a child. Novels about challenging issues or strange fantasy worlds. In many ways reading was an escape to a safe place, but those books were also places where I could learn about how “people” worked. How they thought, felt & behaved. The diversity in those things.

I loved The Little Princess and The Secret Garden, by Frances Hodgson Burnett, because they were about children who were different & how they coped. I loved The Chronicles of Narnia because, although quite dated now, the girls had real adventures alongside their brothers. There was a series of books about witches, good & bad, which I loved but can’t remember the titles or author.

I loved Ivan Southall’s books, where tweens & teens faced dangers, often without the support of adults. (Marsden’s Tomorrow when the War Began is reminiscent of Southall.)

And as an adult, I still like youth & YA fiction, probably for the same reason, because I’m still learning how humans work. I also like adult fiction, but the naivety of youth fiction appeals.

And TBO, I read much more non-fiction than fiction nowadays. Obviously there’s the Autism & ADHD stuff that is currently dominating my reading, but also social commentaries of all sorts, by feminists, sociologists, etc.

@Susan60 @actuallyautistic
I’ll read pretty much anything that sparks my interest, fiction or non fiction. One of my favourite books from my childhood is the Borrowers series by Mary Norton. I also have quite a number of books & ebooks on nutrition & food science.

Just about to eat my dinner. I baked a cheese & onion loaf this afternoon & made a huge pot of zucchini soup. I wasn’t sure about the soup, but it’s delicious & as I do with pumpkin soup, I’ll be adding grated cheese to the bowl next time. The bread is awesome too & yeah it looks like a lot of butter spread on it - my excuse is that it goes into the holes so not my fault 😁. Lots of containers of soup for the freezer, the bread I’ll keep eating in the days to come.
