“Of the 43 players drafted in Detroit by former Lions GM Bob Quinn from 2016-20, only nine remain on the roster, and two of those left in free agency only to re-sign here last month. A couple others probably won’t make the 53-man roster in September.”
My local zen center is hosting a Ukranian refugee who has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. They are currently attempting to raise funds to help with her living expenses and other needs while she receives treatment and recovers. Any help (or boosting!) would be greatly appreciated.
The architectural lettering in a few prominent Downtown #Detroit buildings is fascinating... to me at least.
The #Penobscot Building (which is most recognizable by its glowing "orb" atop the antenna mounted to the roof) is my favorite building in Detroit - a shame that its current owners do not take better care of it, however.
Perhaps someday, the observation deck will be reopened. Seems like a no-brainer to me at least.
At some point, someone needs to do a investigative report on how many historic, vacant (but viable) buildings were demolished and condemned to surface parking lots in Downtown #Detroit in the service of a shallow, one-time Super Bowl (2006) event…
As we experience our 3rd consecutive overnight of late-April frost warnings here in Metro Detroit, I wanted to document our backyard magnolia blossoms before they brown and fall away. I don’t expect them to survive the week, but they at least had a longer run than they did last Spring.
New Siemens Venture cars on the #Amtrak Wolverine from #Detroit to #Chicago offer a quieter, smoother ride. Love the 2x1 configuration, which gives solo travelers a business-class like experience of having a seat to oneself and your own chargers, with USB charging built-in. Digital signage informs of upcoming station stops. Very nice! #trains#travel#intercity
There was some kind of Jesus-y protest going on in Wyandotte with professionally-printed signs and statements about hell. No idea what it was about, but I flipped them off on general principle. #detroit#assholes
"Drawing a single line from techno’s modular minimalism to the funk riffs of the nineteen-sixties might seem impossible—until you realize that the artists in Detroit heard what Kraftwerk was doing and shaped it in their own image, but Kraftwerk just wanted to be like James Brown, who was doing his own homage to Little Richard..."
Russell Street should not terminate in a cul-de-sac at Canield like this. There's still pedestrian access, but why can't we have a street grid like a normal #city? #Detroit#urbanism#streetgrid
The team was part of Detroit's Foreign Language and Immersion Cultural Studies School (FLICS).
Team 14010 Techno Phoenix.
The national championship was this weekend and it looks to be wrapping up today, but there are so many teams competing that it was difficult to figure out when they were competing...
It looks like the team's coach, Leon Pryor, was the runner-up for the Compass Award this year - which recognizes an adult coach or mentor who has given outstanding guidance and support to a team throughout the year and demonstrates to the team what it means to be a Gracious Professional.
