OK, #PushNotifications on the @elk #PWA on #iOS kind of work but it is extremely rudimentary and also rather buggy. This is sad because otherwise #Elk has the best #UX of all #Mastodon clients #mastodon

Checking out the listed web / desktop for most of them are really underwhelming. They even fail to describe on why one should use them. I didn't find a single desktop app which was worth installing, just from the information provided on their webpage. Multiaccount usage is irrelevant to me, for now.

"In his life, Bob brought a sense of awe and wonder to many. His death has prompted a much-needed conversation about how humans and elk can share the same home. Many more elk will die on our roads this year. None will be as famous as Bob, but each one will be a life lost, and endanger human lives in the process." —Emma Gilchrist for @thenarwhal

After the disruption from the nightly build on Monday, I began experimenting with both @phanpy and @elk, alternate Web interfaces for Mastodon.

While is quite nice with always-available mouse-based back navigation, it doesn't seem to support either multi-column views or auto-refreshing timelines.

So, is a much better fit for my use case. However, it suffers the same limitation sorting notifications as the current unfixed nightly build, i.e. no quick-access filter bar.

Ah, yes, I recall you were involved with Apple, Lisa, so it's not surprising that you prefer the mouse/graphic paradigm though I personally prefer keyboard.

I envision your fingers wiggling your mouse in precision movements whipping out clicks and drags at superhuman speed. The movie camera pans up to your face showing that you're sipping your coffee, not even looking at the computer but just staring at the weather outside while you're doing 1.2kbps (kiloboosts/s)

@potungthul LOL! Yeah. That exactly. 💯

Oddly enough, I'm a major keyboard maven in other contexts. 🤷‍♀️

Hey @elk! On Elk my lists are not sorted alphabetically. I number them so on Mastodon they show up in the order I want. Is this something that is on the roadmap for Elk? Thanks!

Elk is a good example of a mastodon client that has not the most functionality but is just very nice to use. Easy, fast, small.

Technical question. Does anyone happen to know why, when I use the alternative Mastodon UI, , I never see rate limit errors, but when I try using I get the error constantly? So often, in fact, that for me, Elk is completely unusable.
