PDS now for Trinity, TX in a Flash Flood Emergency
"At 1137 PM CDT, Local law enforcement reported swift water rescues due to heavy rain in between the towns of Trinity and Groveton. Between 6 and 12 inches of rain have fallen. Additional storms are
building west and is expected to move into warned area. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area. Dangerous flash flooding is already occurring.
This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for South Central Trinity County.
This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!"

Flash flooding can be as if not more deadly than a #tornado so please take care if you are in an area in danger of flooding - do not attempt to travel unless you're evacuating or seeking higher ground. WPC MPD: SUMMARY...A flash flood threat will continue for southern CA through the early afternoon. While the coverage and magnitude of heavy rain will be reduced compared to the previous couple of days, sensitive grounds will maintain the risk for runoff from an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain.

More than half a million California power customers face outages as an intense atmospheric river lashes the state with heavy rain and strong winds. Forecasters warn that potentially life-threatening flooding and #mudslides will follow.
A #FlashFlood warning is in effect for parts of the southern and central coast, including areas in #LosAngeles, where officials warned of one of the "most dramatic weather days in recent memory." More than a month's worth of rain could fall by the time the bulk of the storm has passed on Tuesday.
This system comes after an earlier storm already unleashed record rainfall in some parts of the region.
The Guardian article on the #NYC#rainfall#deluge and #flooding and the analysis on which it is based are okay, but entirely miss the key point - "with every degree (Celsius) of warming, the atmosphere can hold 7% more moisture"[1]. In greater #NY / #NJ the temperature is now about 2.2C over the 1900 - 2020 average [2]. This equates to the atmosphere holding 15.4% more water than average. No "rapid attribution study" necessary. It's simple atmospheric #physics.
