So grateful a person with no medical degree, that’s only qualification is they work for an insurance company, decided that it was okay if my kid continues the medication she needs to walk and write and not be in extreme pain. Preauthorizations are fucking barbaric.

Health CEOs hauled in $4 billion as inflation pinched workers - Oh but we can’t pay nurses and nursing aides any more, it’d break us!! What a crock of BS. Just another reason should be enacted. Nationalize now. https://www.statnews.com/2023/08/17/health-ceo-salaries-compensation/

COVID 19 is a litmus test for all of us who claim we want to see a better world.

If we are actually going to dismantle capitalism, patriarchy, colonialism, white supremacy and all of the isms that come with being socialized within it - we must dismantle it in ourselves.

The fight for a better world will involve sacrifice for all of us.

In the absence of government action to protect us from and not just action, but abandonment of any pretense that they care about our health as they , we must take community centered action to protect ourselves.

We all live with internalized abelism, racism, sexism etc.

But if we are confronting this within ourselves and working to unlearn that, it is much easier to see how the governments / campaign is an extension of the state's willingness (and eagerness tbh) to continue to not only push the vulnerable out of society, but abandon them completely.

This alone is the case for wearing a mask, even amid social pressure, even when the state tells you it's okay.

The state has proven time and time again they do not care about our health - they don't even pretend to by providing .

Why would they bother protecting us from ?

British people, I cannot explain adequately what absolute hell the American healthcare system is. You know how people say: "at least in the US, you can get fast treatment. At least in the US, you can choose your doctor. At least in the US, you can get the most innovative treatment"?

Lies. All of it.

The US healthcare system excels at one thing only, and that's bankrupting people.

I'm an American, living near Chicago. My husband works for a large hospital chain and has that is among the best around.

He has Type II diabetes, w/ no complications (just needing pills 2x/day). I'm in my midlife, and our 25yo daughter lives with us, partly so she can keep getting her health coverage.

Our family regularly pays at least a few thousand dollars a year in extraneous medical costs (AFTER co-pay & including deductibles). Some years, it's as high as $5K (if we have any medical emergencies etc).

You do NOT want American privatized . We want YOUR system. We want our own .

(A reminder that more than 30M Americans have no health insurance of any kind, meaning that their "doctor visit wait times" are eternal.)

has written so many things that so many people have enjoyed-- books, movies, comics, streaming, and more. You've undoubtedly enjoyed his work without realizing it. He's written things for , , , the , the (comics, TV, and movies), and more.

Only in America should a man as sick as he is, and as talented as he is, need to go begging to pay his medical bills, just to live.

Now you can see why the is striking. Streaming fees and movie ticket sales never trickle down to the people who do the most important job of all: creating the stories and characters you see on screen.

I rarely post a , unless I know it's truly worthwhile. Please donate and say thank you to someone who has given you so many hours of entertainment.

I am a lifelong learner. Would have loved to get a degree in political science but don’t have the time for another structured degree. Instead, I take Harvard online courses which is NOT the same. Reading about history and politics is my favorite pastime, mostly in the form of audiobooks, while I engage in physical activities. One of those is walking my boys for 2 h pretty much every day. I am a crazy in love dog mom, who also has 5 cats. Also not the same. Favorite drink is coffee. VERY particular about that one. for life and health are my children are in the order I have learned them. is my profession is the ONLY concern right now, without it we can’t fight for anything else, like We need to abolish the We need to expand And now I need a cup of coffee.
